Fans don’t always get to see what the cast members of The Office film. Angela Kinsey, who played Angela Martin, revealed she had a steamy kissing scene. But it was cut because the director thought it was too much.

Jim caught Dwight and Angela kissing on ‘The Office’

Angela and Dwight (Rainn Wilson) kept their relationship a secret for quite some time. But the first time the audience notice it is in season 2. However, Pam (Jenna Fischer) does notice their closeness that season. Jim (John Krasinski) won’t notice until the next season.

The episode “The Negotiation” starts with Dwight saving Jim from being attacked by Roy (David Denman). Jim then spends the rest of the episode trying to figure out how to repay him.

The episode ends with Jim walking out of the bathroom. He catches Dwight and Angela kissing. He decides to keep it a secret for Dwight.

A take of the scene was considered too much

Kinsey talked about filming the scene with her podcast co-host, Jenna Fischer on Office Ladies. Fischer pointed out Dwight sits before they kiss and asked if it was because of their height difference.

“Almost every scene Dwight and Angela have together he is seated,” Kinsey said because of that reason. She then revealed they did a take of the kiss very differently.

“We did probably like three or four takes just to get the timing right of Jim walking out and reacting,” she said. “In one take, Rainn sort of does this huge, grand gesture where he shoves everything off Oscar’s (Oscar Nunez) desk. He takes his hand, sweeps it across the desk, and everything goes flying.”

Dwight also picked her up and laid her down on the desk. Director, Jeffrey Blitz thought it was all ” probably too much” according to Martin.

Wilson is known to improvise to add jokes to scenes. But there was one time he improvised more of a sweet moment to help Kinsey.

This happened while filming in “A Benihana Christmas.” Angela was supposed to sing “The Little Drummer Boy” on a karaoke machine in the office. But Kinsey was really nervous to sing.

“I shared with Rainn how scared I was” Kinsey said on another episode of the Office Ladies podcast. She said Wilson took the microphone from her, went down on his knee, and gave her a beat to sing to for the song.

“All of a sudden I wasn’t alone. Rainn was with me,” Kinsey said. The scene is a sweet one that works given the characters are also having a secret relationship.

It sounds like Wilson and Kinsey had fun filming together. Sadly, fans may never see the take of their more outrageous kissing scene.
