Fans of The Office learned about a closed club at Dunder Mifflin called The Finer Things Club. Jenna Fischer, who played Pam Beesly, talked about what she loved about the club and how they finally extended an invite to Ed Helms, who played Andy Bernard.

What episode of ‘The Office’ is the Finer Things Club?

The episode, “Branch Wars” revealed the very exclusive Finer Things Club. Pam, Oscar (Oscar Nuñez), and Toby (Paul Lieberstein) are the members who meet once a month to talk about books, art, and culture.

They meet by the vending machines, but they try to decorate the place. They use a white table cloth, flatware, and the teapot Jim (John Krasinski) gave Pam makes an appearance. They enjoy sandwiches together so it looks like a formal meeting for tea.

“There is no paper, no plastic, and no work talk allowed,” Pam says in the episode. “It’s very exclusive.”

Andy finds out about it and makes it his mission to join the club. Sadly, he’s unsuccessful.

Fischer and Angela Kinsey, who played Angela Martin, talked about “Branch Wars” on their podcast, Office Ladies. Fischer explained why she loved this group.

“I’ll have you know, we loved shooting these scenes. Me, Oscar, Paul, we were delighted by this storyline. We had the best time ‘cause this was a group of people that did not normally get to hang out. I did not have a lot of scenes with Oscar or Paul. So this was really cool.”

The cast of The Office continue to stay in touch. Fischer revealed there was a reunion for the Finer Things Club in 2018.

“Before the pandemic we had a Finer Things Club reunion lunch,” Fischer revealed. “We met. We had lunch and we invited Ed. We let Ed come,” she later said. Sadly, other cast members still felt left out.

“That is so sweet. I’m very sad I wasn’t invited on the show or in real life,” Kinsey said. “Well I’ll say we did not discuss any literature at our reunion lunch. We just chatted about our lives and our kids,” Fischer said. The actor posted a picture from the reunion on Instagram.

Why the club probably got awkward

What’s interesting about this reveal is that it means Toby and Pam spent time together once a month. Toby had a crush on Pam and sometimes things got awkward between them because he would try to make a move.

The fact that they do hang out makes Toby’s crush on Pam make more sense. But it’s also weird to imagine how their meetings might include more awkward situations, especially after she got in a relationship with Jim. Sadly, fans will never get to see more of the club.
