Ree Drummond recently appeared in a discovery+ holiday series titled Hometown Stories. The Pioneer Woman invited fans along for a tour of The Mercantile and The Pioneer Woman Boarding House. Drummond’s sister and mother appeared in one of the episodes, and they relaxed with a holiday cocktail created by one of the bartenders at P-Town (Drummond’s pizzeria). Here’s how to make the festive Christmas Mule Cocktails that were featured in the second episode.

Drummond showed how The Mercantile is prepared for Christmas during the discovery+ Hometown Stories series. She says the space is “dressed in its holiday best.” During the first episode, Drummond’s sister, Betsy, and her mother, Gerre, joined her for a fun girls’ weekend. They started the night with Christmas Mule Cocktails.

Drummond says Sherlock (also known as Samuel Steed), the bartender at P-Town (Drummond’s pizzeria), made the cocktails. She says his cocktails are “amazing.” Sherlock starts by adding crushed ice to the shaker. Then he adds spice and ginger infused vodka, an ounce of lime juice, half an ounce of grenadine, and an ounce of blood orange juice. Next, he shakes the mixture and strains it into the cup. Sherlock then adds ginger beer to the top of the drink. You can find the complete recipe and directions here.

One of Ree Drummond’s favorite cocktails

Drummond is a fan of cocktails. She has a favorite one that she enjoys drinking when the weather gets warm. A fan asked Drummond to share her favorite summer cocktail. She shared her top pick in The Pioneer Woman magazine.

“I love any kind of berry lemonade or limeade with a splash of vodka!” says Drummond. “I especially associate my Blueberry-Basil Limeade with summertime.” Drummond shared her recipe for making the limeade. For this recipe, you’ll need basil, fresh lime juice, fresh blueberries, and one cup of sugar. She shared the full recipe on The Pioneer Woman website.

Once the weather gets warner, you’ll want to try the recipe for Blueberry-Basil Lemonade ice pops on the site. Guest blogger Gaby Dalkin posted her recipe. She says these pops are great for a family BBQ or summer party.

It’s three episodes long, and centers around how we get ready for Christmas in our sweet small town. So much food and decorating magic, and you’ll meet the amazing folks I work with at The Mercantile, as well as Todd, Betsy, my mom, and Ladd, of course. Hope you love it, and I hope it gets you excited for the holidays!”
