Ree Drummond cooks a variety of meals on her television show and at home. She has many favorites, but there is one meal that makes her heart sing. The Pioneer Woman once revealed spaghetti and meatballs get her excited. She can’t resist the hearty pasta and tangy sauce. Here’s more about one of Drummond’s favorite meals.

Drummond jokes she would be devasted if she was never able to eat spaghetti and meatballs again. She says she doesn’t know what she would do if she had to choose between cooking spaghetti forever or eating it. However, one thing she enjoys just as much as eating spaghetti is the process of seeing this delicious meal created right before her eyes. She takes great joy in forming each meatball and preparing the sauce.

“What I’m trying to say in a roundabout, backward, incoherent, motormouthed way is that I derive a great deal of satisfaction from cooking spaghetti and meatballs,” says Drummond on The Pioneer Woman website. “There’s just something about the mixing of the meatballs, the forming them into compact little rounds, the browning them in the same pot in which you’ll eventually add the sauce ingredients, the adding of the meatballs to the sauce. The steady simmer, during which the meatballs impart their flavor to the sauce.”

The Food Network cook says whenever she makes this dish, she always ends up with 25 meatballs. She can’t seem to figure out why that happens and wonders if there is any significance. “I don’t care what I do or how many times I throw this together, I always—always wind up with 25 meatballs,” says Drummond. “And I’m always searching for the hidden significance in that number.”

Ree Drummond’s skillet spaghetti and meatballs

A favorite spaghetti and meatball recipe in the Drummond household is skillet spaghetti and meatballs. Drummond describes it as a “delicious classic.” For this recipe, some of the ingredients you’ll need are ground beef, minced garlic, parmesan cheese, and cream. Ladd Drummond is a big fan of this recipe.

“This is Ladd’s idea of the perfect meal,” says Drummond on her show. “He loves pasta, loves Italian food, loves cheese, and that is why I love Ladd. We have a lot in common when it comes to the things that we like to eat.”

Ree Drummond gets excited about spaghetti and meatballs

Drummond took time to answer a few questions in her magazine column. One fan asked her which meal she gets most excited about. She says when it comes to her favorite foods, spaghetti and meatballs is always one of the winners.

“Everyone always loves it, and I never cease to be amazed at its simple perfection,” says Drummond. “I like a combination of pork and beef for meatballs, but you can use all beef if you like.”
