‘The Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond Posts a Heartfelt Message About Her Faith
The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond focuses a lot of her time on creating tasty meals for her fans and family. She churns out cookbooks on a regular basis and updates her website with her latest recipes. Although food is a big part of her life, it isn’t the only thing that keeps her going.
Drummond recently opened up a recent church visit and what it meant to her. Attending a service after a long break from gathering with others reminded her how much she cherishes her faith traditions. Here’s what The Pioneer Woman shared about that church visit and how it affected her.
Ree Drummond currently identifies as Presbyterian
Drummond tends to be quiet about her beliefs, but she sometimes allows fans to share her experiences with her. When it comes to religion, Drummond practices Christianity. She told her fans on Facebook she has attended churches from various denominations over the years (Lutheran, Catholic, Presbyterian, and Episcopalian). The Accidental Country Girl grew up Episcopalian, but currently identifies as Presbyterian.
Though we’re Presbyterians these days, I grew up Episcopalian, and this morning I found myself moved as I sat and listened to the same liturgy I heard when I was a little girl, and my faith was just taking root. I wiped three or four tears from my cheek during the hour-long service, not in an ugly cry kind of way, but out of gratitude. I consider my faith, which has stayed close to me through the many ages and stages of my life, to be a gift… one I hope I never take for granted.

Once again, Drummond shared a sweet moment from a recent Colorado trip. She says she decided to visit a church in Vail, Colorado called Vail Interfaith Chapel. Drummond admits to getting very emotional whenever she goes to church. The tears immediately start flowing as soon as she enters the church doors. The pandemic prevented her from going to the church, so returning after a long absence was overwhelming for her.
“I haven’t been to this little chapel since December 2019,” wrote Drummond on her Instagram account. “This morning’s earliest service was Episcopal, so I chose it because I’d been wide awake since 5:00 a.m., and because I grew up in the Episcopal church and the liturgy is forever written on my heart.” Drummond says going to church reminds her of when she was a child. It brings back a lot of good memories for her.
“There’s just something about reciting the exact same prayers I memorized as a child; I still know every word,” says Drummond. “Anyway, as I walked into the sanctuary this morning, I could feel the inevitable lump start to form in my throat. Then my nose started stinging. I’ve written before about my curious tendency to shed (quiet) tears anytime I’m inside this place—sometimes one or two, sometimes more—but usually I wait until the service actually begins to let ‘em fly. I guess I’ve been extra hungry for this place.”
Ree Drummond prefers to be ‘understated’ about her faith
Drummond freely shared her experience at church, but she typically likes to keep her faith “understated.” She once told her fans that growing up Episcopalian affects how she approaches matters of religion. Although she is a Christian, she prefers not to be overly demonstrative when it comes to her faith.
