The Open Book author and her husband happily marked ten years of togetherness and a love that appears to be stronger than ever.

Jessica Simpson and her husband celebrate a decade together

In a sweet Instagram post last week, the singer observed her anniversary with her husband. Not of their wedding day, but of the day they met.

Appearing makeup-free and glowingly happy, her post reads, “I fell head over slippers in love with this perfect man 10 YEARS ago today! By chance he knocked on my dreamy cottage door (sigh), I let him in and never let him leave. He is mine, I am his…forever #MAY212010”

The 39-year-old told ET in Feb. 2020, “I count the first day that we met, because it was pretty instant. It was definitely instant. I think he moved in, like, a month later! So we knew. When you know, you know. . .We knew exactly what we wanted in a person, in a companion, and exactly who we wanted to raise children with. We were that for each other. Through all of this we’ve only become stronger.”

How Jessica Simpson met her husband Eric Johnson

From Simpson’s Instagram posts through the years, she seems to credit her meeting her husband to her former assistant, Lauren Harrison.

“Fortunate for these two @laurenz422 and @bretharrison for the unexpected intro,” Simpson wrote on social media five years after she and Johnson were a couple.

Before her fateful introduction to Johnson, she had just broken up with musician John Mayer, ending a turbulent relationship with him when he referred to her as “sexual napalm” in an interview with Playboy magazine in 2010.

Johnson is a former NFL player, active with the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints until he left the sport in 2008. The 40-year-old Yale graduate was a student at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School when he met the “I Wanna Love You Forever” singer and dropped out to be with her.

The two eventually made it official and married in July 2014.

“The pride that he takes in our love and in me, as a woman, is so sexy and it is so empowering,” Simpson said in her conversation with ET, “because he just knows that this is my calling. . . He’s really the backbone to who I am, because anytime I feel like I can’t stand, he’s there to hold me up and tell me that I actually can.”

The happy couple has three children

Simpson and Johnson share three children together, daughters Maxwell Drew, 8, and Birdie Mae, 14 months, and son Ace Knute, 6.

Clearly, her children are the pride of her life, as she told ET in 2018.
