The ‘Sex and the City’ Reboot: ‘And Just Like That’ Gets a Trailer and Official Release Date

'Sex and the City' fans don't have long to wait for the official reboot. On November 12, HBO Max released the show's official trailer and announced its release date, all at the same time. Fans will get to reconnect with Carrie Bradshaw and two of her best friends on December 9. The highly-anticipated series just finished filming earlier in the month.

Last month, HBO Max released a teaser for the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That…, much to the delight of fans. Along with the brief teaser, the streaming provider set a general release date. Now, as the premiere draws near, fans are getting a better idea of what will happen in the continuation of Carrie Bradshaw’s story. HBO Max has officially released the show’s trailer and announced its premiere date.

HBO Max releases the trailer for ‘And Just Like That…’, but gives nothing away

On November 12, HBO Max released the full trailer for And Just Like That… on YouTube. The 36-second trailer gave fans a glimpse into the lives of Charlotte York, Miranda Hobbes, and Carrie. In true Sex and the City fashion, the trailer gives very little away regarding the show’s storyline, though. At the very least, fans didn’t learn anything that they hadn’t already gleaned from photos from the show’s production.

The trailer shows that Carrie and Mr. Big appear to be married, although fans have called into question the state of that marriage, based on production photos. The trailer also revealed that Charlotte and Harry Goldenblatt are still together, as are Miranda and her husband, Steve Brady. The short video also highlighted several of the show’s new characters.

HBO Max has given the ‘Sex and the City’ reboot, ‘And Just Like That…’, an official release date

The trailer would have been enough to get Sex and the City fans talking, but HBO Max released more than a simple trailer. The upcoming reboot now has an official premiere date. In October, HBO Max revealed that the series would premiere sometime in December 2021, although they were careful not to offer a specific date.

Now that filming has officially wrapped, the streaming provider has given the highly-anticipated series an official premiere date. Fans can get ready to stream the reboot of the beloved series on December 9. HBO Max has not announced whether a second season will eventually be in the works, but fans assume they’ll see even more of Carrie and her best friends someday.

How many new characters can ‘Sex and the City’ fans expect to see in the reboot?

Fans of the original series are looking forward to a completely reimagined series that still manages to retain the charm of the original. To do that, HBO Max and the production team have rounded out the cast with a slew of new characters. There will be plenty of returning guest stars, too. Sara Ramirez, Karen Pittman, and Nicole Ari Parker are the three most anticipated new additions to the series.

Ramirez will portray Che Diaz, a podcaster. Parker has joined the cast as Lisa Todd Wexley, a documentarian, and Pittman is slated to take on the role of Dr. Nya Wallace. The nature of their connection to Carrie and her pals remains largely shrouded in mystery, although it’s believed Carrie will work with Che on a podcast.

Aside from the new characters, fans will also get a chance to reconnect with some familiar faces when the Sex and the City reboot is released. Bridget Moynahan is returning to reprise her role as Natasha, Mr. Big’s second ex-wife. According to IMDb, Julie Halston is also slated to return as Bitsy von Muffling. Halston played Bitsy, a socialite, in the show’s sixth season. Once again, their storylines remain largely unknown but will come into view very soon.
