The season started with Rae Williams giving Zay Wilson an ultimatum after dating him for two and a half years. She had a trial marriage with Jake Cunningham, and he had one with Shanique Imari.

“Back to Reality” showed the cast back with their original partners after their trial marriages. Zay told Rae that he wanted to get engaged now, which is huge since Rae is the one who gave him the ultimatum.

But Rae said she has to work on herself since she enjoys her space. “I just don’t think that I need to be engaged right now,” she told him. She then said she was still working on the relationship.

Zay asked why she was not ready. “Because we’ve not been happy,” she told him. The episode ended with Rae asking him to stay and lay down with her. He went out instead and didn’t come back until 8 in the morning. “He has never done that to me before,” Rae said.

Once he returned they got into a fight. It looked like Rae was trying to leave the apartment, and he grabbed her to stop her. The end of the fight was shown in “Time to Answer the Ultimatum.”

Rae punched Zay in their breakup fight

“I don’t want to talk to you,” Rae said to Zay while walking back to their room as he blocked the front door. “No, because when I f*cking hit you, you’re gonna get mad. Get off me, Zay. Get off!” Rae yells.

Rae later talked about their fight to the camera. “I don’t think a lot of people would accept someone staying out all night and coming home drunk, smelling like the club, smelling like perfume,” she said. “And he expects me to just accept that and be OK. I was so pissed when he came home I literally punched him.”

Rae apologized to Zay for hitting him. She broke up with him for being out all night and not answering his phone, and turning off his location. Rae said she thought he cheated, and he denied it.

“This is not who we are,” she later told him. “I was so upset, I literally swung on you and punched you. That’s not who we are. That’s not what we do.”

Do Rae and Zay break up on ‘The Ultimatum’?

Zay said he’s been trying in this relationship, but he sometimes wants to go out and forget everything. Rae said him going out all night showed her he’s not ready to get engaged.

“I just wanna be done,” she told him. “I just wanna go home. I’m done.” She later said there’s nothing he can do to fix it.

The former couple packed their bags and went their separate ways. Zay later talked about the fight with Shanique, who defended Rae. She said she would never be OK with her man being out all night. However, he got upset when she said he leaned on his sad past to get a pass for behaving a certain way.

Rae also reunited with Jake and revealed she had broken up with Zay. She admitted to him that they argued about Jake a lot. Jake said he needs to give April Marie a chance to make their relationship work. However, Jake did tell her that he wanted someone like her as a partner.

Fans will have to wait to see the finale to see who Jake will choose in the end. But it looks like he’s sticking with April for now.
