It’s been a while since The Umbrella Academy Season 2 debuted on Netflix, and fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting its next chapter. There’s good news on that front: we finally have a release date for The Umbrella Academy Season 3 — and it’s soon. The streamer also shared a new look at the Sparrow Academy, which promises to play a pivotal role in the coming episodes.

‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 locks in June 2022 release date

Netflix previously confirmed that The Umbrella Academy Season 3 would arrive sometime in 2022, and fans finally know when. On March 13, the show’s official Twitter revealed that The Umbrella Academy Season 3 has locked in a release date of June 22, 2022.

It’s been almost two years since the second season of the Netflix series dropped, leaving viewers with a major cliffhanger at the end. Like most shows, it faced production challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s taken a bit longer than many hoped for season 3 to arrive.

However, the brief footage shared alongside the announcement suggests it will be well worth the wait.

Netflix revealed the release date with a look at the Sparrow Academy

In addition to revealing a June 22 release date, Netflix shared a glimpse of The Umbrella Academy Season 3 in its announcement.

The footage shows the Hargreeves siblings meeting the Sparrow Academy for the first time. Things look tense as the two groups size each other up. A fight might ensue during the first installment, which means viewers can expect action and suspense from the jump.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 revealed the Hargreeves had inadvertently changed their present timeline in its finale, bringing the Sparrow Academy into existence. Most members of the Sparrow Academy stuck to the shadows during that final scene. Just Ben (Justin H. Min), who is alive in this new reality, interacted with his former siblings.

Netflix has since introduced the characters and actors that will make up the Sparrow Academy on social media. However, this clip marks the first actual footage we’ve seen of them. And if it tells us anything, it’s that we can expect plenty of tension in the new episodes.
