‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3: New Posters Hint at Big Changes for the Hargreeves
The Umbrella Academy Season 3 premieres at some point in 2022, although a specific date hasn’t been announced yet. However, a recent release of promotional photos for the upcoming season hints at some changes for the Hargreeves.
Will Lila fight alongside ‘The Umbrella Academy’ in season 3?
We already know the biggest change in The Umbrella Academy Season 3 has the Hargreeves facing off against another group of presumably supernatural foes with The Sparrow Academy. However, the new posters released show Lila included as part of The Umbrella Academy.
When we last left Lila and the Hargreeves, their relationship stood on shaky ground. The group tried to explain that she belonged with them as another child born on the same day as the rest of the Hargreeves with supernatural powers. However, she didn’t take lightly to accusations that the woman who raised her, the Handler, didn’t love her. When one of the Swedish brothers shot her mother, she used one of the suitcases and blipped away.
Now, it appears as though she’s back in the good graces of the siblings and will fight alongside them against The Sparrow Academy. Hopefully, The Umbrella Academy Season 3 explains what happened between Lila and Diego and how they patched up their relationship.
Number Five ditched the school uniform
Another minor change shown in the promotional posters includes Number Five’s attire. Typically seen in the same uniform all the Hargreeves wore as children in The Umbrella Academy, now it looks like he’ll don an actual suit instead.
When Five first returned to the appropriate timeline in The Umbrella Academy Season 1, his only option for clothes was the uniforms as a kid. Despite technically being 58 years old, he still looked like a pre-teen. Five’s look of annoyance when he saw his clothes hinted at his unhappiness with the situation, but there were bigger first to fry at the moment – like saving the world.
Five loses the uniform after the first volume in The Umbrella Academy comics by Gabriel Bá and Gerard Way. It makes sense that he now chooses to wear a suit instead. Plus, there’s only so much one can do in those clothes while trying to save the world. A suit gives him more hiding places for weapons.
The new promo pics for ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 don’t include Ben
Although Vanya and Ben shared a heartfelt goodbye in The Umbrella Academy Season 2 finale, that’s not the last fans will see of him. When the Hargreeves returned to an alternate timeline in The Umbrella Academy Season 3, Ben headed up The Sparrow Academy. The upcoming season looks to set up the two groups against one another, which could cause a whole host of problems. This is especially true for Klaus, who still managed to speak with Ben from beyond the grave. The pair parted on bad terms, which might create some conflict within Klaus about fighting against his former best friend and brother.
As of now, no specific release date has been set for the premiere of The Umbrella Academy Season 3. Although, many believe it will drop in the first half of 2022. In the meantime, you can rewatch The Umbrella Academy Seasons 1 and 2 exclusively on Netflix.
