‘The Umbrella Academy’: These 2 Powerful Characters Are Left off With Major Cliffhangers

The Hargreeves returned for another season of The Umbrella Academy and there are multiple new characters with them. The Netflix show ended with fans being in the dark about two new powerful characters. [Spoiler alert for The Umbrella Academy Season 2 ending.]

‘The Umbrella Academy’ introduced new characters

The Hargreeves are transported back to the 1960s at the beginning of season 3. We find out that they have started new lives separately, which includes new characters.

Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) is now married and gets involved in the Civil Rights Movement. Klaus (Robert Sheehan) started a cult, bringing Ben (Justin H. Min) along for the ride. Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) sees the end of the world again and is on a mission to find his siblings to stop it. Luther (Tom Hopper) is hired by a crime boss to fight in order to place bets. Vanya (Ellen Page) lost her memory and is living with a family on their farm. Deigo (David Castañeda) is being kept in an asylum as he obsesses over Robert F. Kennedy’s future assassination.

The two characters who had a big cliffhanger are Lila Pitts (Ritu Arya) and Harlan (Justin Paul Kelly.) Lila becomes close to Deigo.

Lila vanishes with a briefcase

Lila was put on a mission to kill Number Five by The Handler (Kate Walsh.) But it all came out in the end that The Handler sent Number Five to kill Lila’s parents years ago because she wanted one of the children who have special abilities.

Lila is able to mirror other people’s powers. It came as a shock to The Umbrella Academy, but they were ready to welcome her in as one of their own. That’s especially the case for Diego since he had a romantic relationship with her.

But Lila decided to take a briefcase and leave. We don’t know when or where she is and we can only hope we’ll see her again next season.

Harlan still has powers

Vanya spent the beginning of the season helping out a family after losing her memory. She falls in love with the married Sissy (Marin Ireland) and takes care of her son, Harlan.

Harlan drowns in the middle of the season and Vanya saves him by using her powers. By the end, he has the same powers and is about to bring on the apocalypse. Vanya manages to stop it. She also tries to take her powers back and she thinks she’s successful.

However, his last scene shows him in the back seat of Sissy’s car making a toy float. The Umbrella Academy leaves him behind and go back to 2019.

We find out the world as changed. There are new versions of them called The Sparrow Academy and Ben is alive. It’s hard to tell if any of these loose ends have to do with this new timeline. Sadly, fans won’t get season 3 until 2022. Hopefully, the new season will give us some answers about Harlan and Lila.
