‘The White Lotus’ Season 2 Cast: Fans Request These 3 HBO Stars
Since the renewal of The White Lotus Season 2 on HBO, fans continue to contemplate the new cast and location. The comedic satire topped the charts for HBO Max and kept growing in popularity. However, fan-favorites Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, Murray Bartlett, Sydney Sweeney, and Steve Zahn might not return. Instead, the next season of the series takes a new cast to a brand new destination at a sister resort for another installment of dark humor.
The ‘White Lotus’ renewed for season 2 on HBO
When HBO announced the renewal of The White Lotus for season 2, fans rejoiced until they saw the change in cast. Viewers fell in love with the laughs Coolidge provided as Tanya and Natasha Rothwell complemented her as resort manager Belinda. However, it’s too coincidental to have all of the same travelers go on vacation to the same place at the same time again.
“Mike has once again delivered a quintessential HBO show, and it’s the talk of the town,” Francesca Orsi, EVP Programming at HBO, said in the press release. “We were thrilled to hear where he wanted to go next after closing this epic chapter in Hawaii and can’t wait to keep following him wherever he takes us.”
It sounds like White has plans for the new location, but nothing is planned for the new cast of The White Lotus Season 2 yet.
‘The White Lotus’ Season 2 cast, if fans could choose
If HBO viewers had a say in the cast for The White Lotus Season 2, a group of Reddit fans’ number one choice would be Laura Dern. In White’s first series on HBO, Enlightened, she starred as the naive and socially awkward Amy Jellicoe. Some HBO fans also hope to see Nicole Kidman. How about the entire cast of Big Little Lies (BLL) flying to an exotic resort together? Did White call Reese Witherspoon yet?
“[Laura Dern] would be a flawless choice for this type of show,” one fan added. “Maybe it’s time to rewatch BLL while I wait for E6.”
Although fans have plenty of requests for the cast of The White Lotus Season 2, HBO did not reveal any intentions for the new stars yet. Since the renewal only happened on Aug. 10, White still needs time to develop the new season and characters.
Fan reactions to ‘The White Lotus’ renewal
Hopeful fans did not want to see The White Lotus end with episode 6 on Aug. 15, 2021, so the comments were mostly positive regarding the renewal.
“I actually really love this as an anthology series,” another fan wrote in the same Reddit thread. “Usually, when it seems like it’s supposed to be a limited series, I am really turned off when they announce a second season (like Big Little Lies), but The White Lotus has so much potential and can go in, so many different directions. It just needs to keep up with the phenomenal casting and writing. But overall, I’m pumped.”
Some fans wish that HBO could keep the same cast for The White Lotus Season 2.
“I almost wish they’d do an American Horror Story thing and keep the same cast, but they play different characters,” one fan wrote.
However, the season 1 cast only signed on for six episodes, so it’s unlikely they could get everyone back again.
The final episode of The White Lotus Season 1 airs on Aug. 15, 2021, at 9 p.m. EST on HBO and HBO Max.
