‘The Young and the Restless’: Fans Wish They Brought Chance Back Instead of Stitch
The Young and the Restless has long been one of the most popular soap operas in the U.s. It debuted on television in 1973 and has been in continuous syndication ever since, with new fans of all ages discovering the soap on a weekly basis. Although the storylines certainly keep fans hooked, it is the characters that have kept viewers truly invested in The Young and the Restless — and recently, with the return of one of the show’s most controversial characters, Stitch, viewers are taking to social media to express their thoughts about preferring Chance instead.
What happened to Stitch on ‘The Young and the Restless’?
Dr. Benjamin “Stitch” Rayburn, better known to fans of The Young and the Restless as merely “Stitch,” first began appearing on the series in 2013. A best friend to Dylan McAvoy, Stitch quickly became one of the most controversial characters on The Young and the Restless for involving himself in multiple love triangles, including a heated pairing with Victoria. Ultimately, Stitch found love with Abby Newman, and the two tied the knot in 2015.
The marriage between Stitch and Abby ended in heartbreak following Abby’s miscarriage that was partially caused by Stitch’s son, Max. Although Stitch wanted to try to mend things with Abby, she ultimately broke things off, and Stitch moved to Iowa. There, he started a new medical practice while caring for his son, who entered long-term care following his brain surgery. In the years since Stitch has been gone, Abby found new love, and is doing better than ever — however, June 2021 saw Stitch’s return to The Young and the Restless. And he’s seemingly bent on stirring up a romance with Abby yet again.
Fans wish Chance had been brought back instead of Stitch on ‘The Young and the Restless’
After Stitch’s return to The Young and the Restless in June, many fans weren’t really sure what to think. A few fans took to social media to express their thoughts, with many admitting that he’s not the character that they would choose to bring back. “That’s great, but why not bring back Chance instead??” one Twitter user wrote. Another stated, “Nice to see Stitch, but I wish it were Chance that came through that door. It’s beyond time to bring Abby’s husband home!”
Still, one or two fans did write that they were excited, with one fan noting, “Welcome back Stitch. Hope you’re staying for a while!!” While fans are divided, it does certainly seem as though many viewers are ready to see Chance — a character who left the show in dramatic fashion in February 2021.
What happened to Chance on ‘The Young and the Restless’?
Chance Chancellor is a character who was featured on The Young and the Restless since the ’80s, first by child actors and later, portrayed by Donny Boaz as an adult. In 2019, Chance made a grand return to the show and quickly established himself as a love interest for Abby Newman, who was ready for love again. The two married and started trying for a baby — but problems with conception caused a divide to form between Chance and Abby, and in early 2021, Chance departed the show under mysterious circumstances.
These days, many fans are speculating that Chance could eventually return to The Young and the Restless. Donny Boaz, the actor who played Chance in the most recent incarnation, is currently acting in the TV series P-Valley. But with the massive amount of affection that fans have for him as Chance, there’s a good chance that he could come back to the long-running soap opera.
