Getting along with one’s in-laws can play a big part in any marriage but it’s never been a concern for Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Even before she and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex married in May 2018, Meghan has been on good terms with Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall too.

The Duchess of Sussex and Charles have been seen at numerous official engagements in good spirits together. Ahead, check out four photos of Meghan and Charles that show just how well they get along.

When asked to step in, the Prince of Wales didn’t hesitate. Such a kind gesture shows Charles really wanted to do whatever he could to welcome Meghan into the family.

They chatted at the Royal Ascot in 2018

On the first day of the Royal Ascot on June 19, 2018, just one month after Meghan officially became a member of the British royal family, she attended the event with the Duke of Sussex.

During the day’s festivities, photographers caught royals mingling. Amongst them were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chatting with Charles (below). Meghan can be seen smiling at her father-in-law, who has his back to the camera. Obscured by his top hat is Harry.

We don’t know what they were discussing but by looks of Meghan’s warm smile, the conversation proved to be pleasant.

They shared a laugh together

As Meghan’s first official event as a full-fledged member of the British royal family just three days after marrying Harry, she attended the Prince of Wales’ 70th Birthday Patronage Celebration on May 22, 2018.

While the Duke of Sussex gave a touching speech about his father, a bee happened to come a little too close for comfort, causing a funny but brief interruption. Harry made a joke about it to the crowd, which elicited laughter not only from them but Camilla, Meghan, and Charles too (below).

Watching the moment now, it appears Meghan felt relaxed and comfortable around her new in-laws, especially when she gracefully explained what happened to Prince Charles.

Prince Charles and Meghan Markle had a friendly conversation on Commonwealth Day in 2019

Although the atmosphere at the 2020 Commonwealth Day service appeared to be full of tension, the same scene just a year earlier looked very different.

At the same event on March 11, 2019, Meghan, then pregnant with her and Harry’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was all smiles talking with Prince Charles as she cradled her baby bump (below). The two had the moment to themselves because just out of the frame stood Harry and his brother, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.

Clearly, Prince Charles and Meghan get along well with each other. After all, Meghan is credited with bringing Charles closer to Harry. And, according to reports, the Prince of Wales gave his daughter-in-law the nickname “Tungsten,” referring to a type of metal known for its strength.

While Prince Charles might currently be upset with Harry and Meghan for not giving him much notice before they publicly announced their decision to step down as senior members of the British royal family, it’s evident he has a strong bond with not only Harry but with Meghan too.
