‘This Is Us’: Justin Hartley Hints There Could Still Be ‘Something There’ With Sophie and Kevin
There’s no doubt that Kevin and Sophie have insane history and chemistry in This Is Us. No matter how fans feel about their relationship, at least they can agree on the love they hold for one another. And Justin Hartley, who plays Kevin, previously teased that Kevin and Sophie could still have feelings for each other.

While walking the red carpet at the This Is Us Season 6 premiere in December 2021, Justin Hartley talked with Extra about Kevin’s love life. And the interviewer brought up the season 5 scene where Sophie called Kevin, which seemed to “ignite something in him.”
“Yeah, it did. For sure,” Hartley responded. “Well, there could be something there. I don’t know. There could be something there. I do know, but I can’t say. There might be something there, but there might not be something there.”
Hartley knows what or who Kevin’s endgame is in This Is Us, and he teased that that could include Sophie. Unfortunately, fans will just have to continue watching to find out what happens between the former married couple.
Kevin and Sophie reunite in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6 Episode 14
Sophie, played by Alexandra Breckenridge, briefly returned in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 12. She and her husband, Grant, attended Kate and Phillip’s engagement party. And Kevin longingly looked at Sophie from across the room before saying hello. Kevin continued to share yearning looks with his childhood sweetheart at his sister’s wedding in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 13.
Now, in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 14, the NBC drama will take viewers back to the night before the wedding. That evening, something happened between Kevin and three women — Sophie, Cassidy, and the wedding singer, Arielle. And fans will hopefully get answers regarding who Kevin ends up with.
“Knowing that the show is so close to the end, I would suggest that this is more or less going to be an end game for Kevin romantically,” This Is Us executive story editor Jon Dorsey told Entertainment Weekly. “But again, there’s still five episodes left. So expect the unexpected. [Laughs]”
Fans have been desperate to know the identity of Kevin’s future wife, and it sounds like This Is Us will reveal whether that lucky lady is Sophie, Cassidy, or Arielle in episode 14.
Justin Hartley teased that not everyone would be happy with Kevin’s endgame
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Justin Hartley discussed how Kevin’s love story would end.
“I don’t think everyone’s going to be happy necessarily,” the actor revealed. “Every single person is not going to be like, ‘That’s what I wanted.’ Some people will want something different. I mean, because it could be that he just ends up with no one … People are going to have their own reasons for why they believe what they believe.”
Hartley added, “But whether you get what you want or you don’t get what you want, I think it’s going to be very satisfying, and you’re going to understand what happened, and you’re going to say, ‘Well, that makes a lot of sense.'”
“I think there’s a big percentage of people that want Kevin to be with Sophie,” he explained. “I also think there’s a big percentage of people that don’t want that because they’re like, ‘Jesus, how many times are these guys going to get together and ruin each other’s lives?’ But I would say that the debate is usually Madison or Sophie. And it’s hard to beat a love interest that you’ve had from five years old.”
