‘This Is Us’: Justin Hartley Reveals Fans Will See a New Romantic Side of Kevin in Season 6
This Is Us Season 6 fans are dying to solve the mystery of who Kevin ends up with in the future — if he’s destined to be with anyone. He has had many love interests throughout the last five seasons. So the love of his life could be several different women. But, according to Justin Hartley, his character is about to show a side of himself that fans have never seen before.
Kevin and Madison called off their wedding in the ‘This Is Us’ Season 5 finale
Madison dropped a bomb at the end of This Is Us Season 4 — she was pregnant, and Kevin was the father. They decided to work together throughout the pregnancy and got engaged in season 5. Both Kevin and Madison wanted to provide a family for their twins. However, they failed to realize that they already were one.
During the season 5 finale, Madison called the wedding off after accepting that Kevin wasn’t in love with her. And she deserved to be with someone who was. Kevin tried to stop her, but she made him recognize that they shouldn’t get married just for their children. At the end of the episode, the show jumps ahead five years into the future to Kate and Phillip’s wedding day. And Kevin and Madison appear to be amicable with one another.
In This Is Us Season 6 Episode 1, Kevin and Madison struggled to co-parent in close quarters since Kevin lived in her garage. After an awkward moment between him, Madison, and her guy friend, Kevin agreed to move out.
Justin Hartley previews his character’s story and love life in the final episodes
Before the This Is Us Season 6 premiere, Justin Hartley discussed Kevin Pearson’s character arc in the final episodes of the popular NBC drama with Entertainment Weekly.
“A lot of people wanted the Madison thing, and when that didn’t work out, they were heartbroken,” he shared. “And then a lot of people were like, ‘Well, that means he’s going to go back with Sophie.’ And then there were people that probably just want him to be the Manny.”
Hartley added, “When he finally wraps his brain around the fact that it’s actually OK to be alone, that opens him up to be available to other people, instead of the square peg/round hole thing that he constantly tries to do. He’s OK being alone, he’s not lonely; he’s alone. That’s totally different. And I think that opens him to love.”
When asked about what new sides of Kevin fans might see in This Is Us Season 6, Hartley teased, “Maybe how romantic he is … New level [of romantic].”
Could Kevin and Madison find their way back to one another in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6?
During an interview with Deadline, Justin Hartley answered questions about if Kevin will end up with Madison in the final season of This Is Us.
“Anything’s possible,” Hartley teased. As for if Kevin will reconnect with some of his ex-girlfriends, the actor said, “Maybe. I mean, he’s got a couple of old connections that are pretty deep-rooted. There could be somebody totally new, but who knows? I mean, I know, but I can’t say.”
He added that Kevin has “a lot to figure out” in the final season. “He’s dealing with his mom. He’s got career stuff going on, but it’s mostly the family and the kids, and his love life.”
