Jack and Rebecca celebrate their anniversary in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6 Episode 11

The synopsis for This Is Us Season 6 Episode 11, “Saturday in the Park,” reads, “Rebecca and Miguel’s anniversary barbecue does not go as planned.” And according to the This Is Us writers’ Twitter, K.J. Steinberg wrote the episode, and Chris Koch directed it.

The hour flashed back to Jack and Rebecca celebrating their 10th anniversary in the ’80s. Mom and dad planned to have a night out while a teenager watched the Big Three. Rebecca got drunk at the restaurant, but the babysitter broke up their fun night by calling to tell Jack and Rebecca that their children locked her in a closet.

Jack and Rebecca ran home, and Kevin and Randall explained that the babysitter hurt Kate’s feelings. So they were just protecting their sister in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 11.

The Pearsons gather for Rebecca and Miguel’s anniversary in the present

One would think that a party for Rebecca and Miguel’s 10th anniversary would be a happy occasion. However, that’s not how This Is Us rolls. Following This Is Us Season 6 Episode 9, Kate and Toby’s fight about moving to San Francisco carried over to episode 11. And sadly, Jack could hear every angry word that his parents said.

The beginning of the hour put the audience in Jack’s perspective, so we heard Kate and Toby’s fight about her accepting a bigger teaching job in Los Angeles from the toddler’s point of view. Jack knocked something over to stop the morning argument, which sent his parents rushing into his room. They then traveled to the park, a weekly tradition on Saturdays.

Back at Kate and Toby’s home on a different Saturday, Kevin, who is moving out because he bought a new house, asked his sister about a fight with her husband. He tried to cheer her up, but Toby walked in and was mad that Kate told Kevin about their problems. Randall and Beth arrived for the party, and Kate asked her brother to get Kevin out of the house because he was driving Toby crazy.

Kevin and Randall went to Madison’s house, where she was heading out to take the twins to music class. Kevin then found Elijah measuring Madison’s rings because he planned on proposing. In the car, Kevin was upset, and Randall asked his brother if he was in love with Madison. And Kevin couldn’t say yes or no.

At Kate and Toby’s house, the ceiling started leaking. Rebecca, wanting to feel useful, calmed Jack down, and he confided in her that his mom and dad were angry a lot. Meanwhile, Toby retreated to the Big Green Egg smoker in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 11.

Jack goes missing in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6 Episode 11

The water damage caused a part of the ceiling to fall in a bedroom in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 11. Toby put Jack in his room while he went to handle the situation, but Toby didn’t lock his gate. And Kate greeted the plumber at the front door, but she didn’t lock it behind him. Unfortunately, Jack grabbed his walking cane and left the house to go to the park since it was Saturday.

Kate and Toby learned that Jack was missing and started freaking out. Rebecca realized that he had gone to the park, and she rushed there. She found her grandson, who had fallen to the sidewalk. Jack bled from a small wound on his forehead. They took Jack to the hospital, where he got stitches.

Back at their house, Kate and Toby fought outside as they blamed each other for Jack getting out. Kevin and Randall arrived as they continued to sling hurtful statements. Toby argued that Kate thought Jack didn’t have any limitations, while Kate said that Toby was constantly trying to fix their son. Kevin and Randall broke up the fight and defended their sister, and Toby left.

Kevin went to Madison’s house to see the twins, and she excitedly told him that she thought Elijah was going to propose. And Kevin said that he was happy for her.

At Kate and Toby’s home, Kevin and Randall comforted Kate as she cried. She told them that Jack went to the park because “that’s where Mommy and Daddy are happy.” And Kate didn’t know if she and Toby would make it. Meanwhile, Toby went to Jack’s room and cried as his son slept.
