NBC’s This Is Us Season 6 is coming to a close shortly, and soon, fans will see how the Pearson family saga ends. In episode 14, Kevin and Sophie reconnected and embraced romance once more. Now, Sophie actor Alexandra Breckenridge is teasing the “looming death bed” and what that means for Sophie and Kevin. Here’s what she hinted at for the This Is Us Season 6 finale.

How many episodes does ‘This Is Us’ Season 6 have? The season is almost over

With the This Is Us Season 6 finale looming, how many episodes are left in the season? Episode 14 aired on April 26, 2022. Episode 15 airs on May 3, episode 16 airs on May 10, episode 17 airs on May 17, and episode 18 airs on May 24. The finale is episode 18, titled “Us.”

There’s still a lot of ground to cover before the finale takes place. Episode 14 covered Kevin and Sophie’s storyline, and episode 13 focused on everything that happened at Kate’s wedding to Phillip. Both episodes also showed Rebecca’s declining health, and there were also clues to indicate Miguel’s health issues may come up again.

Episode 15, simply titled “Miguel,” focuses on Miguel’s past. Given Miguel’s blood pressure medication in episode 13, fans fear he may die before the season ends. We hope to get answers regarding his future in episode 15.

What will become of Rebecca by the end of the season? Fans assume she’ll die by the This Is Us Season 6 finale due to Alzheimer’s disease and her ailing health as seen at Kate’s wedding. Sophie actor Alexandra Breckenridge also alluded to this.

When asked by People about Sophie and Kevin’s future, Breckenridge says fans will see what happens with Kevin’s kids and his business. “I think you’re going to see how that dynamic is going to play out between her and his kids, and Madison (Caitlin Thompson) and Elijah (Adam Korson),” she said. “But as we close in on the end of the show, and we have this looming deathbed that’s been teased over the last few seasons in the future, Sophie’s going to be a great sense of support and stability for Kevin.”

Rebecca’s death, if it happens, will deeply impact Kevin, and Sophie may have to help pick up the pieces. We expect Rebecca will die before the finale, too. She’ll likely die in episode 17, and episode 18 will likely feature time jumps with future Pearson generations.

‘This Is Us’ Season 6: Why Sophie Actor Alexandra Breckenridge Looks Familiar

Mandy Moore plays Rebecca, and it’s unclear what her role will look like in the This Is Us Season 6 finale. But the second-to-last episode script made her throw up when she read it.

“The second to last script, I sent it to the cast, making Mandy throw up,” series creator Dan Fogelman told NBC Insider.

“It was beautiful [throw-up],” Moore added. “It was so beautiful and upsetting that that was my physical reaction.”

While Moore didn’t elaborate on what happened, series writer Kay Oyegun says Rebecca’s situation gets “bad” as the series progresses. “Objectively, unapologetically, it’s going to get bad. Point blank, period,” she told NBC Insider. “This is a disease that kills many people, ruins many families. So, getting a chance to give everything you have while you can is a mercy and a gift that people rarely get. So, it was important to [showrunner] Dan Fogelman and to us as writers to show that and give that. Because the minute the light bulb goes out, there is no coming back from it.”

This Is Us Season 6 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
