The This Is Us Season 6 finale wraps up the Pearson family saga. NBC viewers can expect to see Rebecca’s funeral and time jumps in the final episode to pull all six seasons together. Rebecca actor Mandy Moore recently teased an “easy” and “boring” scene she shot with Jack actor Milo Ventimiglia for the finale. Here’s what she said.

The show creator chose to film scenes from the ‘This Is Us’ Season 6 finale years ago

The This Is Us Season 6 finale takes place after Rebecca Pearson’s death. And some of the scenes were filmed years ago, according to creator Dan Fogelman and Mandy Moore.

“I didn’t even remember,” Moore said while on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. “So, the finale, the very last episode of the show, just because of the way we tell the story and jump around in time, and obviously children keep growing and getting older, we wanted to capture a very particular time in their lives. And so, some of the finale was filmed three years ago.”

Fogelman also explained why he filmed those scenes years prior. “I was a little worried about the amount of time I would have with the kids before they crashed into each other [in terms of physical growth], and we were able to squeak in there,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Mandy Moore teased the ‘easy’ final scene she and Milo Ventimiglia shot

Mandy Moore spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the final scene of the show. She and Milo Ventimiglia end the show together, which seems perfectly fitting given their characters’ past.

So, what happens in the scene? Can fans expect an explosive, tear-jerking ending? According to Moore, filming the scene felt “easy” and not overly emotional.

“The luckiest part was, I was hopeful that it would be for a scene that didn’t have any sort of emotional stakes, and it was,” she noted. “It was a really easy scene. That was great, because I feel like if I had to pack really storytelling in whatever the moment was, it would have been impossible.”

Moore also called the final scene “boring.”

“The final scene that we shot together [for the finale] was not at all anything emotional,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s just a boring scene from the finale — thank goodness! That’s what I was hoping for. I didn’t want anything that had any real weight or bearing on things, because I thought it was going to be really hard to get through.”

What is the last episode of ‘This Is Us’ called?

The final episode of This Is Us is simply titled “Us.” Many fans think it calls back to Kevin’s painting.

Back in season 1, Kevin talked to Tess and Annie about his secret hobby — painting. He shared a piece of artwork with the children, which showed how he views life and his family. “I painted this because I felt like the play was about life,” Kevin said. “And life is full of color and we each get to come along and we add our own color to the painting. And even though it’s not very big, you sort of have to figure that it goes on forever in each direction. ‘Cause that’s kinda like life.”

We can’t wait to find out if Kevin’s painting reemerges in the This Is Us Season 6 finale.

The This Is Us Season 6 finale airs Tuesday, May 24, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
