‘This Is Us’ Season 6: Justin Hartley Teases ‘Anything’s Possible’ Regarding Kevin and Madison’s Relationship
The subject of Kevin’s love life in This Is Us has been a hot debate among fans since the show’s very beginning. Thankfully, the audience will finally get a straight answer when the final season premieres in early 2022. But before This Is Us Season 6 could begin, Justin Hartley, who plays Kevin, gave fans some hints about how his character’s story ends and if Madison plays a role in it.
Kevin and Madison called off their wedding in the ‘This Is Us’ Season 5 finale
Everyone thought that Kevin had finally found the woman he was supposed to be with — Madison — in This Is Us. However, Madison soon realized that their marriage would be born of convenience and not love. Kevin was only marrying her because he was in love with the idea of their family, not because he was in love with her.
In the season 5 finale, Madison told Kevin that she was in love with him on their wedding day. However, he couldn’t say it back. And she realized that she deserved better than that. They agreed to continue raising their family together, but they called off their wedding.
However, the NBC drama loves a good ole bait-and-switch. Perhaps Kevin and Madison might still get together by the time This Is Us ends.
Justin Hartley alludes to the likelihood of Kevin and Madison getting together in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6
During an interview with Deadline, Justin Hartley and This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman discussed Kevin’s storyline in season 6 and the probability of him ending up with Madison.
“Anything’s possible,” Hartley teased. As for if Kevin will reconnect with some of his ex-girlfriends, the actor said, “Maybe. I mean, he’s got a couple of old connections that are pretty deep-rooted. There could be somebody totally new, but who knows? I mean, I know, but I can’t say.”
Earlier in the interview, Fogelman discussed what direction Kevin’s storyline would be heading in season 6. The creator said, “There’s a lot about Kevin and his continuing existential crisis, and what will be the end of his romantic story.”
Hartley also added that Kevin has “a lot to figure out” in the final season. “He’s dealing with his mom, he’s got career stuff going on, but it’s mostly the family and the kids, and his love life.”
As always, the This Is Us cast and crew remain secretive about Kevin and Madison’s future. But whatever the case may be, fans will find out who Kevin marries in This Is Us Season 6.
Who do fans want Kevin to end up with?
There are many possibilities when it comes to who might be Kevin’s soulmate in This Is Us, from Madison to a stranger. However, two women are quite popular choices among fans.
For the past couple of seasons, fans have argued over whether or not Madison is the right person for Kevin or if his childhood sweetheart Sophie is. And on a Twitter post from the This Is Us page, fans voiced their allegiance to either Team Madison or Team Sophie.
“I really hope [Kevin and Madison] don’t get back together,” one fan wrote. “They’re much better as co-parents. He needs to end up with his true love Sophie!”
Another Twitter user commented, “I want Madison and Kevin together to the end.”
