‘This Is Us’ Season 6: Milo Ventimiglia Reveals Jack Will Be a ‘Supporting Character’ in the Final Episodes
There’s no doubt that Jack Pearson is a favorite among This Is Us fans. The Pearson patriarch stole everyone’s hearts in the show’s first five seasons. And he will likely continue to do so in the last season. However, according to Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Jack, the character will take on more of a supporting role in This Is Us Season 6.
Milo Ventimiglia teases Jack’s story in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6
In the weeks leading up to the premiere of This Is Us Season 6, Milo Ventimiglia discussed how Jack is used in the final episodes.
Deadline wrote that the actor was pretty tight-lipped regarding his character’s arc this season when they interviewed him. However, Ventimiglia revealed that Jack has “moved over into a supporting role.” So, he might appear in the same capacity as he did in season 5.
Ventimiglia explained, “It’s the idea that as a parent, you’re a supporting character in your child’s story.”
Nevertheless, the audience will take as much of Jack Pearson in This Is Us Season 6 as they can get. Even though the show has told most of his story, people still love to see Ventimiglia on their screens.
‘This Is Us’ Season 6 will focus more on Rebecca than Jack
Milo Ventimiglia also spoke with ON With Mario Lopez about Jack’s story in This Is Us Season 6.
“When the show first started, we were driving things forward from the past,” Ventimiglia said. “Now, I think we’re kind of reversing it. We’re going from the future back to toward the present. In the beginning, the big mystery was all about Jack’s death and, of course, how it impacted his family, his children, his wife. But now, what we’ve started to see are kind of the breadcrumb trail of Rebecca’s legacy.”
The actor continued, “I think what we’re going to see this season is more reflecting on Rebecca’s life and Rebecca’s impact to her kids.”
Whereas the first few seasons of This Is Us focused on Jack’s life, death, and relationship with his kids, season 6 will shift over to Rebecca.
The final episodes will show how Rebecca and Miguel got together
The Deadline article also featured Mandy Moore teasing Rebecca’s arc in This Is Us Season 6.
Rebecca is “as present as possible” and “really savoring the time she has with her family,” Moore shared. “I think there’s a lot of reflection back on the past and making sure she imparts everything she needs to with her kids. Whether they’re her wishes for her health and how [it’s] handled when she’s maybe not as present of mind, to making sure they remember the things she wants them to remember about their childhood.”
Jon Huertas, who plays Miguel, added that the show would finally show the beginnings of Rebecca and Miguel’s relationship. He said, “It’s really going to set up who Miguel is, what made him the person he is, how he’s played into the Pearson family dynamic and why. The scenes that we have shot that are starting to touch on the relationship have been, some of them very touching, a couple very sad, a couple very exciting.”
This Is Us Season 6, starring Milo Ventimiglia as Jack Pearson, premieres on Jan. 4 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
