‘This Is Us’ Season 6: Does the New Poster Inspire Hope for Kate and Toby’s Relationship?
Kate and Toby have gone through many ups and downs throughout all five seasons of This Is Us. But they are about to face their biggest test yet in season 6 when Toby starts traveling for work. And based on the show’s flash-forwards, things aren’t looking great for the couple. However, the This Is Us Season 6 poster may symbolize hope for them.
Kate separates from Toby and marries Phillip in the future in ‘This Is Us’
In the This Is Us Season 5 finale, things seemed to be looking up for Kate and Toby. Both of them decided they would keep their jobs. And although he had accepted a position that would take him away to San Francisco for a few days a week, they remained determined to make their marriage work.
However, the show jumped ahead five years at the end of the episode. To the audience’s shock, Kate was marrying her boss Phillip, and Toby was nowhere to be seen.
So, it stands to reason that Kate and Toby will divorce in This Is Us Season 6, and Kate and Phillip will form a connection. Somewhere down the line, the fan-favorite couple’s marriage will fall apart. But we have reason to believe that things are not all that they seem to be regarding the falling out between Kate and Toby.

NBC released a new poster for the final season of This Is Us, which features many important moments from the series. The poster also says, “Make this moment last.”
A photo of Kate and Toby’s wedding day appears on the poster, along with pictures of other major couples, including Jack and Rebecca and Randall and Beth. Could there be hope for Kate and Toby after all?
It’s interesting that NBC would include a picture of the couple on the poster when they get a divorce. However, Kate and Toby’s relationship has played an essential role in This Is Us. Perhaps they are just paying tribute to that. Or maybe it’s another clue that will factor into the show’s mystery.
Chris Sullivan teased the married couple’s journey in final season
Unfortunately for fans of Kate and Toby, This Is Us star Chris Sullivan is pessimistic about the couple’s future. Daily Pop asked the actor if Toby might try to win his ex-wife back after she marries Phillip in season 6.
“I don’t know if we’ll go that far,” Sullivan responded. “I don’t know if we’ll see Toby trying to break up a marriage, I don’t know if that’s our style, but you never know. Stranger things have happened.”
However, the actor promised brighter days ahead for the Pearsons. He said, “Yes, there are going to be difficult moments. The season is going to be full of surprises, but everyone is going to be fine. Everything is gonna be OK. We’re all gonna be OK. We’ll get through this together.”
