Sterling K. Brown is one of the only This Is Us stars to win an Emmy. He knows what it takes to win one of the biggest awards in TV. Brown asked for his co-star to be recognized with an Emmy nomination. Who is Brown putting his support behind as This Is Us comes to an end? That’d be Mandy Moore, who stars as Rebecca in the NBC drama.

Sterling K. Brown makes the case for Mandy Moore’s Emmy nomination

In a video following the latest episode of This Is Us, Brown urged the Television Academy, the people who choose who is nominated and who wins Emmy Awards, to recognize Moore for her brilliant performance in the final season of the hit series, according to TV Line. Brown posted the seven-minute video on Instagram.

“Mandy Moore is killing the game, son,” Brown said. “She is killing the game, and she deserves to be recognized.”

In the series, Moore plays Rebecca, who is the mother of Brown’s character, Randall. Moore has turned in a string of great performances throughout the final season as her character has Alzheimer’s disease. Viewers also see Moore play a younger version of Rebecca.

The TV Academy picks a performance from an individual episode for nominees and winners. Moore’s performance in “The Day of the Wedding” is arguably her best of the series so far. In the episode, she performs the song “The Forever Now” at Kate’s wedding. The song knocked Jack Harlow and Harry Styles out of No. 1 on iTunes.

The 74th Annual Emmy Awards air on July 12, 2022. Fans find out on that day if Moore is nominated for an Emmy this year. The Emmy Awards air on NBC on Sept. 12.

Has Mandy Moore won an Emmy?

Unfortunately, Moore has not won an Emmy yet. Moore was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2019 for her role in This Is Us. That’s the only time Moore has even been nominated for an Emmy.

Moore scored several big award nominations over the years, though. For her role in This Is Us, Moore was nominated for two Golden Globes and seven People’s Choice Awards. Moore won the People’s Choice Award for The Drama TV Star of 2020.

How many Emmys has ‘This Is Us’ won?

Despite This Is Us being one of the most popular dramas on TV for the better part of the last decade, the show doesn’t have many Emmys to show for that success.

This Is Us won four Emmys in its first five seasons. As mentioned, Brown won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2017. Ron Cephas Jones won two Emmys for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. Gerald McRaney also won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

Through those first five seasons, This Is Us scored 38 Emmy nominations, in total, including four nominations for Outstanding Drama Series.
