Leaks seem inevitable when fans mine Marvel trailers, posters, and social media. Rumors of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire quickly became the worst kept secret for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. More alleged leaks claim Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cast Tobey Maguire again. Most supposed rumors turn out to be false. However, Spider-Man: No Way Home concept artist Christian Cordella revealed one Tobey Maguire leak to be true.

A Tobey Maguire leak for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ was apparently confirmed

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige tightly guarded the Garfield and Maguire Spider-Man cameos. Marvel kept their lips sealed no matter how many rumors slipped out about who starred with Tom Holland and Zendaya.

Of course, that meant that no promotional material featured The Amazing Spider-Man Andrew Garfield and the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy Tobey Maguire.

However, a few images leaked, including one that allegedly gave fans a look at Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man in the Marvel movie.

“The leak revealed that Tobey Maguire’s suit will look almost identical to how it appeared in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy,” The Direct reported in 2021. “The costume, as featured in a leaked image from the No Way Home production, looks slightly more vibrant than its appearance in the 2000s franchise, yet that the lighting of the photo could be to blame for this saturation difference.”

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ concept artist Christian Cordella’s image was used by the Marvel costuming department to create the Sam Raimi suit

Translating superhero costumes from Marvel Comics to movies has more steps than most people might know. While Peter Parker’s Spider suit formed the basis, his return in Spider-Man: No Way Home provided new challenges.

Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland all wore similar costumes. When the three swung around fighting Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), and Electro (Jamie Foxx), viewers had to be able to differentiate each hero.

Spider-Man: No Way Home concept artist Christian Cordella sketched a design that closely resembled the Sam Raimi Spider-Man suit. The Marvel costuming department took the sketch and used it to help them bring a slightly updated version of Maguire’s superhero costume. However, before Spider-Man: No Way Home released, the Tobey Maguire image leaked.

Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield wore a Spider suit reminiscent of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Holland wore a suit with more technology than his predecessors, thanks to Iron Man Stark Tech, making him more like the Iron Spider from Marvel Comics.

The Marvel concept artist officially released the image

While many took the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man leak with a grain of salt, the Marvel artist brought it back to everyone’s attention. They officially posted the image, revealing the leak to have been confirmed.

With one Tobey Maguire leak confirmed, fans hope more prove true, like his inclusion in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
