The Marvel Cinematic Universe has given fans some of the best (and worst) siblings in superhero cinema. MCU rivalries like Thor and Loki or Gamora and Nebula create unique dynamics and redemptions, and others like Wanda and Pietro Maximoff or Natasha and Yelena give a tragic edge to Marvel characters. To celebrate Siblings Day 2022, here are the top 5 Marvel siblings, the heroic and the villainous in the MCU.

Honorable Mentions: Shang-Chi and Xialing and ‘WandaVision’ Billy and Tommy

The newest Marvel superhero siblings have a disadvantage since they have not had as much screen time as others. In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the Shang-Chi sisters from Marvel Comics were rolled into one; Xialing. They had a tragic dynamic after Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) left Xialing (Meng’er Zhang) to deal with their father, Wenwu (Tony Leung).

In WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and the Vision (Paul Bettany) “have” two children, Billy and Tommy. However, they disappeared at the end of the Disney+ Marvel series. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has teased their return, though. They could have more chances to develop as a sibling pair for the rumored Young Avengers.

5. Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff and Quicksilver Pietro Maximoff gave fans a tragic Marvel sibling pair

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, and Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver, debuted. After their parents died, Wanda and Pietro developed a close bond. Pietro’s death destroyed Wanda, leading to her carrying a lot of trauma.

WandaVision revealed their younger dynamic before their parents’ deaths. However, since Pietro died so quickly in the MCU, they did not have as much time to develop as other sibling pairs.

4. Natasha Romanov and Yelena Belova made a huge impact on fans

Natasha Romanov’s sister Yelena Belova only entered the MCU after Black Widow’s death in Avengers: Endgame. However, Yelena proved to be a highlight of both Black Widow and the Disney+ Hawkeye series.

The two MCU assassin siblings had a caring and hilarious dynamic filled with banter. They provided the most memorable parts of the Black Widow movie.

3. T’Challa and Shuri charmed fans as Wakanda’s best Marvel siblings

While Black Panther T’Challa already has powers that rival Captain America’s Super Soldier abilities, Shuri ups his skills even more. Shuri and T’Challa seem like the most realistic out of all Marvel siblings.

They mess with each other, their tone is carrying, even though it sounds like arguing at times. And with the unfortunate death of Chadwick Boseman, some fans think Letitia Wright should become the next Black Panther.

2. The daughters of Thanos, Gamora and Nebula, play one of the most important Marvel siblings

Ever since the first Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora (Zoe Saldaña) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) have been at each other’s throats. And with such tight ties to Marvel’s big bad, Thanos, their sibling rivalry also played an important role in developing the villain. Gamora was always more talented, resulting in Nebula enduring cruel body modifications.

Tragically, just as Nebula started developing a relationship with Gamora, the Guardian then died at the hands of Thanos. Now, she seemingly has to start over with a past version of Gamora. And this MCU sibling relationship became a lot more complicated for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

1. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston played fan-favorite Marvel siblings Thor and Loki

Few can deny Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston’s Thor and Loki as the most popular Marvel siblings in the MCU. Both actors brought the Asgardians to life in a dynamic that evolved from Thor (2011) through the first Avengers and Thor: Ragnarok.

Their rivalry was compelling and filled with tension. The team-ups between the two had hilarious banter (who could forget the iconic “Get Help” scene?). Even though Loki died in Avengers: Infinity War, a Variant has been jumping around the multiverse in the Disney+ Loki show.

The MCU has given fans plenty of fantastic Marvel siblings. While many of them end in tragedy, they have stuck with us for Siblings Day 2022.
