Update: Tory Lanez didn’t like an Instagram post which made light of Megan Thee Stallion’s shooting. Per HotNewHipHop, Lanez’s creative director, who also manages his social media, says it was photoshop and that his account never interacted with the post.
Original story: Tory Lanez is still remaining mum about the allegations that he shot Megan Thee Stallion, even though the rapper has directly named him as her shooter. Now, Lanez is receiving a ton of backlash for liking a post on Instagram which made light of the shooting.
Megan Thee Stallion confirmed Tory Lanez shot her
Initially, not much was known about what happened, only that Lanez was arrested on a gun charge when Megan Thee Stallion was with him. It was initially reported that Megan Thee Stallion was injured due to a cut on her foot that she suffered during the incident.
TMZ said that Megan Thee Stallion was listed as a “victim” by police. The outlet reported, “When officers arrived, we’re told witnesses reported people were arguing in an SUV before someone fired shots in the air … and the vehicle took off. Our law enforcement sources say cops got a description of the SUV and located it shortly afterward, and found the rappers inside along with another woman.” Soon after this, Megan Thee Stallion released a statement that said she “suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.”
Though many people assumed that this meant that Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion, there were rumors that victim blamed her. In an effort to set the record straight, the Megan Thee Stallion posted photos of her injury and also went on Instagram Live to directly state that Lanez shot her.
“Yes…Tory shot me,” she said in the video. “You shot me. and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs, lying and s**t…stop lying. I was just trying to get home, we was five minutes away from my spot. The police come, I’m scared.”
She continued, “Even though he shot me, I tried to spare him [at the time]. I go through so much s**t. on a daily basis anyways….[Tory’s] not in jail because I didn’t tell the [police] what happened, and I should have. I’m smart. I didn’t have to spare [Tory]. But I did. And I’m done. Stop acting like Black women is the motherf**king problem, stop acting like Black women is aggressive…stop spreading lies…you shot me, you scared to come tell everybody that you f**king shot me.”
Fans are furious after Tory Lanez liked an Instagram post
Lanez has been notably quiet since the shooting and hasn’t had anything to say, even after Megan Thee Stallion came forward and said that Lanez was the one who shot her. However, he made an indirect statement on the shooting by liking an Instagram post, seemingly showing his feelings about the situation.
The controversial tweet from former NFL player Danny Johnson stated, “Ladies, if you date a man who coined the term ‘Demon Time,’ and you get shot by him during Demon Hours, be accountable for YOUR stupidity.” The Shade Room reposted the tweet, along with several tweets in response to Johnson that called him out his arrests for domestic abuse.
Lanez, who hasn’t been active on social media, liked the post, with many thinking that he co-signed Johnson’s tweet. This infuriated fans, who were shocked at Lanez’s audacity.
“Oh he is just disrespectful,” commented one fan. Someone else said, “And he has no remorse! Disgusting!!” Another person had similar sentiments, stating, “He has no remorse this is crazy. very embarrassing.”
Still, Lanez has yet to directly address the matter on any social media platform.
