They might not have won season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, but these two found success outside of RuPaul’s reality competition series. Because they work together so much, Trixie Mattel and Katya shared that they don’t really hang out outside of UNHhhh.

Their friendship might’ve started on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 7, but it’s since grown into multiple shows, a book, a podcast, and a partnership with a streaming platform. Trixie and Katya also appear in conjunction with a Netflix YouTube series, I Like to Watch, where they unpack the latest episodes of television shows and Netflix original movies.

Recently, the duo teamed up to write the New York Times best-seller, Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood. With so much time together, these two shared that they don’t really hang out when they’re not working together.

Outside of work, these two don’t really hang out

During one episode of UNHhhh, these two performers talked about the drama and trauma in the drag community, though. When it came to spilling the tea about their own relationship, there wasn’t much tea to spill.

“Everybody knows this — we don’t really hang out that much,” Trixie said during the web series. “We’re both loners so it’s perfect. I would say we talk on the phone probably every day? Briefly?”

“And FaceTime a lot,” Katya added. “I mean, what are we going to do? I don’t play video games.”

“I would say that if we really did have a drama, I don’t think that we could because I think that we would talk about it before it happened and got serious,” Trixie said with Katya agreeing. “Because I think we’ve been through worse, I think the worst is behind us.”

Katya unpacked a few of the scenes from Trixie Mattel’s documentary, ‘Moving Parts’

Following the end of Viceland’s The Trixie and Katya Show, there was a brief time when Trixie Mattel and Katya weren’t talking. The roughest parts of their relationship were shown during Trixie Mattel’s award-winning documentary, Moving Parts.

During an interview with the Shut Up Evan podcast, Katya discussed her current relationship with Trixie Mattel and how its changed since The Trixie and Katya Show.

“Not to sound corny, but [Trixie has] taught me the real power and value of forgiveness,” Katya said of her relationship with the other drag performer. “[Trixie] just kind of waited it out. And forgave me. That is really incredible, because I kind of don’t know what I would’ve done in her situation.”

Episodes of UNHhhh premiere on a weekly basis on YouTube and the premium streaming platform WOWPresents Plus. Additionally, some episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked are available for streaming on the World of Wonder YouTube Channel.
