‘The Bachelorette’: Chris Harrison Is Already Home, Hints That Filming Is Wrapped
Season 16 of The Bachelorette has already put viewers through a wild ride and the show hasn’t even aired yet. From going on hiatus to switching leads from Clare Crawley to Tayshia Adams, this season has been a rollercoaster of twists and turns. Though Adams has reportedly only been filming for a few weeks, the season is all wrapped up.
Why did Clare get switched out?
Filming for Crawley’s season had to be postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. By the time filming halted, Crawley’s men had already been announced so she was able to look them up.
“You can kind of tell people’s lifestyles like from Instagram Stories, and I see some that I’m like, ‘That’s not really my vibe,’ and others where I look at them and I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s hot. I can’t wait to meet that guy. I hope he’s on the season,’” she said on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast.
During this time, former football player Dale Moss and Crawley got in contact and started talking.
“One of her potential guys found a way to get in touch with her and they began talking,” a source told People. “By the time filming officially began, they were basically already in love. No one else stood a chance. It just became so obvious from her subsequent few dates that her heart wasn’t in it and she just wasn’t feeling it. Then she said she wanted out.”
After two weeks of filming, Crawley already knew that she wanted to be with Moss and told production that she didn’t want to continue filming. Surprisingly, she was allowed to resign as the Bachelorette and Adams stepped in.
“[Producers] had to find a way to continue the show without just starting from scratch,” a source told Us Weekly. “They were shocked by [Clare’s] choice.”
‘The Bachelorette’ is done filming
The Bachelor franchise is notorious for making its contestants profess their love in short amounts of time. Normally, The Bachelorette starts filming around mid-March and production ends in early May, meaning that the contestants have a month and a half to two months to meet, fall in love with the lead, and get engaged.
Crawley began filming in mid-July but as has been reported, she only filmed for about two weeks before she quit. Adams then had to be flown in and some of Crawley’s previous men were asked to return. Due to the pandemic, The Bachelorette is quarantining and testing all of its contestants and leads in order to keep everyone safe. So that means that there had to have been at least a small delay between Crawley and Adams filming.
On Aug. 30, host Chris Harrison posted a picture of a grill to his Instagram story with the caption,” Good to be home,” meaning filming for this season has most likely already wrapped. So, if that is the case, then Adams only had about a month to fall in love.
The only caveat to this timeline is that the new premiere date for The Bachelorette is not until Oct. 13. The Bachelorette usually has a much quicker turnaround than that. The seasons usually wrap filming in early May and then premiere in late May. If Adams really is done filming, then why would production need over a month to edit?
