‘Twilight’: Are Kristen Stewart and Nikki Reed Still Friends?
One of the unique things about the first Twilight movie was its large ensemble cast. Because there were so many young adults on set, many of the actors likened the experience to sleepaway camp. Furthermore, the cast developed close relationships with one another whilst making the film. Two actors, in particular, who formed a very special bond were Kristen Stewart and Nikki Reed.
Unlike their characters, Bella Swan and Rosalie Hale, Stewart and Reed hit it off right away. They developed a kinship on set which continued even after the cameras stopped rolling. In the height of the Twilight movies, the actors were occasionally photographed together by the paparazzi. Furthermore, Reed admitted that her friendship with Stewart helped her to navigate the intense mania that surrounded the wildly popular movies.

“If it weren’t for Kristen, this would have been a lot more overwhelming,” Reed shared with About.com when asked about managing the Twilight fame. “But Kristen and I are best friends and so to have her along, not along… I mean I’m supporting her in this. I don’t, [you] know, mean have her along, you know what I mean? To be a part of it together.”
Reed echoed those same sentiments in an interview with Vanity Fair sharing that, “Kristen Stewart and I became really close.” In fact, the Thirteen actor shared that her friendship with Stewart had become familial. “Kristen and I had a very natural progression to our friendship,” Reed revealed about her Twilight co-star. “She was in rehearsal on her own a lot, as was I, but we became very close over the months and now I’m like a part of her family.”

But are the two actors still friends today? Fans of Twilight began speculating that the two were no longer friends as the four sequels came out. Rumors that Robert Pattinson drove a wedge between the two women began to fly. Gossip rags even speculated that Pattinson dumped Reed to be with Stewart.

Of course, not every fan of Twilight bought into the love triangle rumor, especially after Reed denied dating Pattinson. But it wasn’t long before questions about Stewart and Reed’s friendship started up again. When doing press for Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Reed revealed that success changed the dynamic of the cast. She also shared that she wasn’t “best friends” with her castmates and wouldn’t hang out with them after the films ended.

Naturally, some fans assumed that Reed was singling out Stewart with her comments. They again began speculating that the former besties were estranged. But is there any truth to their assumptions? In a 2020 interview with Insider, Reed revealed where her relationship with Stewart currently stood.
In the aforementioned interview, Reed reflected on Stewart stealing her baseball cleats from the Twilight set on her behalf. She also mentioned that she and Stewart are still close today. “That’s because Kristen, who’s a dear buddy, took them for me because I just could never take anything from the set because I’m such a rule follower,” Reed shared.

Continuing on, Reed recalled her reaction to her Twilight co-star stealing the coveted shoes on her behalf. “One day she came back from filming… reshoots or something and she gave me those shoes from the baseball scene,” Reed remembered. “I was like, ‘Oh man, this is the best thing ever!’ And I still have them. I remember Kristen being like, ‘This is not a big deal. You can just have your shoes.'”
Clearly, there wasn’t beef between Stewart and Reed like some Twilight fans assumed. While their friendship may have shifted in the 14 months since Reed gave the interview, it’s pretty fair to assume that the actors are still close today.
