TXT will perform ‘We Lost the Summer’ on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’

On Oct. 26, 2020, the K-pop group released minisode1 : Blue Hour. The album has five tracks: “Ghosting,” “5시 53분의 하늘에서 발견한 너와 나 (Blue Hour),” “날씨를 잃어버렸어 (We Lost The Summer),” “Wishlist,” and “하굣길 (Way Home).”

The EP followed TXT’s The Dream Chapter era, which concluded in May 2020. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, minisode1 : Blue Hour is a standalone EP and did not kick off an album series.

According to Soompi, TXT will perform “We Lost the Summer” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The performance will air on April 16.

What ‘We Lost the Summer’ is about

On minisode1 : Blue Hour, “We Lost the Summer” is a standout track. The song was co-written by singer-songwriter Charli XCX, and it explores the feeling of loss teenagers dealt with when the coronavirus disrupted their lives.

“Cause we lost the summer / When we lost each other / Give me back my season / Oh, it’s all gone / Endless winter / Now I just miss ya / Give us back ourselves / Oh, it’s all gone / We lost the summer,” the group sings in the chorus according to Genius.

TXT released a music video for the song on Nov. 12, 2020. The music video shows Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai navigating their new reality brought on by the coronavirus.

At the start of the “We Lost The Summer” music video, the members hang out together while taking photos with each other. An alert about the coronavirus then pops up on a mobile phone.

Throughout the rest of the music video, Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai communicate virtually while doing their best to not feel lonely.

Upon a first listen, “We Lost the Summer” does not appear to be a sad song due to its upbeat nature. However, the lyrics and music video perfectly encapsulate what millions around the world have felt as they come to terms with the pandemic.

TXT will reportedly have a comeback in May
