It’s been a while since the fans of Vanderpump Rules have gotten to enjoy new episodes of the popular reality TV series.

On September 2, the cast members took to social media to reveal the premiere date of the upcoming season. Here’s everything you need to know about what happened since season 8 of the show and when you can start watching the highly anticipated 9th season.

‘Vanderpump Rules’ went on hiatus last year

Vanderpump Rules typically films over the summer and premieres in the late fall/early winter. Last year, fans were devastated to learn that the reality show would not be filming due to the Coronavirus.

The show centers around the lives of employees and former employees of SUR, a West Hollywood restaurant owned by Lisa Vanderpump (former star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills). With restaurants being closed due to the pandemic, the premise and primary setting of the show were jeopardized.

Covid-19 guidelines were relaxed enough in the spring and summer of 2021 for the show to resume filming. The cast has been teasing what to expect in the upcoming season for months, letting fans know that another year would not pass without a new season of Vanderpump Rules.

A lot has changed since season 8

It might have the same name and setting, but viewers can expect many differences in the upcoming season of Vanderpump Rules. A lot has happened to the cast since season 8 wrapped.

For starters, some of the original cast members won’t be returning to the show. Bravo fired Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute due to racist actions against fellow cast member Faith Stowers. Viewers saw Schroeder’s husband Beau Clark propose to Schroeder in season 8. Clark will also not be returning to the show this season.

Original cast member Jax Taylor and his wife, Brittany Cartwright (who joined the show in season 4), have also left the show.

Of the remaining cast members, several have celebrated some huge milestones since last season. Lala Kent and Scheana Shay both gave birth for the first time to daughters. Kent named her baby Ocean, while Shay named her firstborn Summer Moon Honey. Both babies will likely appear on the show.

Shay’s boyfriend and the father of her child, Brock Davies, proposed to her while the show was off-air. James Kennedy also proposed to his long-term girlfriend and fellow cast member Raquel Leviss. Viewers hope to see details of both engagements in the upcoming season, but nothing is promised yet.

The cast has also teased on social media that viewers should expect to see some new faces in season 9.
