The cast of Vanderpump Rules continues to shed members as Dayna Kathan confirms her exit from the series. Kathan said she would not be appearing in season 9 after being a cast member for only one season. Although the Bravo series is on pause right now, Lisa Vanderpump has been hinting the show will return to filming soon.

Why is Dayna Kathan leaving ‘Vanderpump Rules’?

Vanderpump Rules has faced major backlash after several of its cast members were on the record making racially insensitive remarks. As the Black Lives Matter movement gave perspective to systemic racism in 2020, Bravo fired a series of stars. Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni were axed from the show.

Kathan, who had been involved with Boyens and Caprioni, joined the show with season 8. However, after only being in one season she announced she would not be moving forward if the series returns.

“It was a tough decision for me but ultimately the right one,” Kathan confirmed to E! News. “I’m grateful for the experience and wish everyone on the show all the best!”

Over the weekend, Kathan replied to a fan on Instagram that she was not returning to the Bravo show.

“I’m not returning but excited to see next szn! The pod will be back soon, you’re amazing, thank you!!!” she wrote confirming that season 9 was happening.

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright also confirm exits

As Vanderpump Rules has been on hiatus due to Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurants being closed due to the pandemic, production had been pushed back. Jax Taylor said back in October 2020 that he had word they were “supposed to go back to filming” but no set date had been confirmed.

In December of that same year Taylor dropped the bombshell that he and his wife Brittany Cartwright were not returning for season 9.

“The last 8 years on Vanderpump Rules have been some of the most challenging, rewarding, and fulfilling years of my life,” Taylor posted on Instagram announcing his exit. “Although this is difficult to share, Brittany and I will not be returning for another season of Vanderpump Rules. We are excited to take this time to focus on our growing family and share with you our new endeavors.”

Lisa Vanderpump talks ‘Vanderpump Rules’

Vanderpump recently talked about the show she is an executive producer on. Although she didn’t give a lot of details as to when production was supposed to start again, she did hint of what viewers might see in the new season.

“I’m not allowed to say anything until Bravo announces it,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “But there’s always a lot of stories, because it’s legitimately a restaurant with a lot of young people. We’ve lost a couple of people along the way, unfortunately, but there’s still a lot of people that the audience know and love that they’re still involved in Vanderpump Rules.”

As many of the cast members have been pregnant in the last year, Vanderpump confirmed that fans might get glimpses of their road to maternity.

“I think people will just be glad to see them back. You know, I love Lala [Kent], I think, yeah, she was naughty and she got it wrong sometimes, but that’s what Vanderpump Rules is, and that’s what life is,” Vanderpump added. “It’s about, they were young and they were growing up and they were finding their way. And she’s just such a lovely girl.”

As of now, Bravo has not confirmed Vanderpump Rules was returning this year to the network.
