Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules may have looked very different if Lisa Vanderpump’s former houseguest Cedric Martinez had joined the cast.

Martinez has been sharing the receipts on Instagram. He recently revealed that he was considered for Vanderpump’s “new spin-off” show, which ultimately became Vanderpump Rules. Or did producers dangle the series to lure Martinez to SUR, only to have Vanderpump kick him out of the restaurant?

He posted a 2011 email exchange between Bravo executive producer Dave Rupel and his rep Michael Sanchez. Embedded in the exchange is Rupel’s offer that Martinez could (possibly) be a cast member on Vanderpump Rules.

Cedric Martinez’s receipts hint at a part on ‘Vanderpump Rules’

Martinez shared the exchange to prove that his arrival at the SUR event on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was scripted. The show was edited to look like Martinez crashed the party and Vanderpump swiftly kicked him out of the restaurant.

However, Martinez insists his rep and Bravo had a number of exchanges to stage the moment where Martinez offers an olive branch to Vanderpump. “An update for tonight’s shoot. Lisa is in negotiations with Bravo for a potential spin-off that would focus on the staff at SUR,” Rupel wrote to Sanchez. “That deal has been in the works for a while. All along I’ve been saying that it’s too bad Lisa and Cedric had their falling out because Cedric would’ve been [a] perfect fit for that project.”

“Today, Lisa mentioned that maybe if she and Cedric patched things up, that could still happen,” the email continues. “There’s certainly no guarantee of that, but just wanted to make sure you both know of that possibility.”

Was ‘Vanderpump Rules’ only teased to get Martinez to SUR?

Sanchez confirmed that Martinez would arrive at SUR. Adding, “If he’s asked to leave he will not film with anyone other than another housewife.” At this point, Rupel spills and says Vanderpump will ultimately ask Martinez to leave SUR.

Martinez’s arrival wouldn’t be shared with the rest of the cast and they should be surprised to see him. “However, after he talks to Lisa, and at some point, we do expect her to ask him to leave, we are prepared for Cedric to ask another cast member to talk with him outside (Brandi, Kyle, Bernie, Dwight, Justin.) Sound okay?”

Martinez shared in the post thread he ended up having to shoot his dramatic “exit” scene at least three times. “All set up! So she had time to come up with the perfect way to humiliate me…it worked,” he added.

Was the Vanderpump Rules offer authentic? Probably not. At the time he had some angry words for his former friend. “Lisa has succeeded thus far in trashing my name and manipulating the other housewives,” he told Radar Online. “But the race is long and I’m confident that as the truth slowly comes out, the public will come to realize Lisa’s pretty facade hides a heartless, bitter, rotting core.”
