Virgin River is set in a stunning fictional Northern California town that promotes friendship and community. The series centers on Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge). The nurse and midwife leave her life in Los Angeles behind for a fresh start in Virgin River. Though she hopes to fly under the radar, she becomes the talk of the town when she falls for Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), a retired Marine who is also the owner of the town’s bar.

As stunning as Virgin River looks, it’s actually filmed in Vancouver, Canada, which is known for its brutal winters. In fact, Breckenridge says she’s over filming the show during the winter months.

‘Virgin River’ Season 4 has completed filming

The fourth season of Virgin River began filming in July 2021. In December 2021, Breckenridge announced that it had wrapped. In an Instagram post, she shared her time card from the show with the song, “The Final Countdown” blaring on top of it.

She captioned the video via Express, “That’s a wrap!!!!!! Season 4 Virgin River complete for me… For those that don’t know ‘WF’ means ‘work finished’.” Breckenridge joked at the quality of her video saying, “Camera skills in the car need some improvement!”

The entire series wrapped in the weeks leading up to the Christmas holiday. However, there is no word yet when it will debut on Netflix.

Alexandra Breckenridge says she’s done filming ‘Virgin River’ in the winter

Initially, the fifth season of Virgin River was set to begin filming in Vancouver in March 2022. However, Breckenridge has explained that there has been a delay. “Season five, we were supposed to start in March,” she revealed on Instagram Live via Express. “But we’ve been pushed so… I don’t know. I don’t know man.”

Hopefully, filming for season 5 has only been pushed a month or two since the This Is Us actor says that she’s exhausted with filming in the fridged winter conditions.

“I’m hoping that maybe we’ll start in the summer,” she explained. “It would be nice to film in Vancouver in the summer rather than the winter. To be quite frank with you guys, I’m pretty done filming in Vancouver in the winter. Not really interested in doing that ever again actually, it’s really cold. And when you’re standing outside in sandals and little outfits because it’s supposed to be the middle of summer, it’s not (good).”

When will season 4 premiere?

The fourth season of Virgin River began filming in July 2021 and wrapped in early December 2021, just a few weeks prior to the Christmas holiday. Though the new episodes are officially in post-production, there is no word yet on when Netflix will debut season 4.

However, if we look at the pattern of shows on the streaming service, the series will likely debut in about six months, which will mean that season 4 will hit the service about a year after season 3 premiered. Fans are eager to see if Charmaine (Lauren Hammersly) will finally have her babies. They also want to know the outcome of Brady’s (Ben Hollingsworth) arrest for allegedly shooting Jack.

Finally, there was Mel’s pregnancy announcement when she revealed to Jack that she didn’t know if he was the father of her unborn child. That’s something that we won’t answer until we get to the end of — if we get — a season 4,” Virgin River showrunner Sue Tenney told Us Weekly.

Fans are going to have to wait to get these answers when season 4 debuts.
