Virgin River fans have been loving the Netflix adaptation of Robyn Carr’s books. The dramatic series follows Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse who leaves behind her life in Los Angeles after a series of devastating events for a fresh start in Virgin River.

Upon her arrival she finds herself pulled toward retired Marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) who owns the town’s bar and also has some major baggage of his own. Throughout three seasons of Virgin River, fans have watched the drama and twists and turns play out. But how long has Mel actually been living in Virgin River?

Why isn’t Charmaine’s pregnancy bump showing yet on ‘Virgin River’?

One of the biggest issues that have stunned fans about the timeline in Virgin River is Charmaine’s (Lauren Hammersley) pregnancy. The hairstylist revealed her pregnancy to her ex-boyfriend Jack at the end of season 1, but by the end of season 3, she still didn’t have a visible baby bump.

Since she is carrying twins, this also seems rather unlikely. “Getting caught up on Virgin River season 3…. and Charmaine is STILL pregnant,” one person tweeted. Another added,  “This is a very random, local niche tweet but is there a worse character than Charmaine from Virgin River. Forever jarring. Also, how has she been pregnant for three seasons and we ain’t seen a bump?????”

How long has Mel been living in ‘Virgin River’?

A lot has happened since Mel came to Virgin River at the beginning of the first season of the show. She’s become a mainstay in the town. She’s fallen for Jack and they’ve already broken up once and gotten back together. Lilly (Lynda Boyd) gave birth and died, Paige (Lexa Doig) has gone on the run, Brie (Zibby Allen) has come to town, and Mel’s sister Joey (Jenny Cooper) has gotten a divorce.

So how long has Mel been actually in the small town? One Redditor has sorted it out that each season represents just one month in the show’s universe. There is also about a three-week gap between each season. This means that it’s been just over four months since Mel first arrived in town, which is preposterous.

“It’s insanely annoying how off the timeline is on this show,” another Redditor added. “It just doesn’t make sense and I certainly hope they will make that more clearer in season 4.”

Why hasn’t Netflix renewed ‘Virgin River’ for Season 4?

Despite the confusing timeline of the series, Virgin River is still one of Netflix’s biggest shows. In fact, it’s one of the most-watched shows on streamers across the board. So why hasn’t Netflix renewed the show for season 4? It looks like there may be a strategy behind this for a major surprise announcement or rollout. Considering the ratings and the numerous cliffhangers from Virgin River Season 3, a renewal is imminent.

In fact, some fans believe the series has been secretly filming season 4 in Vancouver. Recently, the Instagram account for The Watershed Grill in North Vancouver, which is the location Virgin River uses for Jack’s bar announced they would be closed for filming.

Immediately Virgin River fans began flooding their account and the grill took down their announcement replacing it by using the term “maintenance” instead of filming. From where we’re sitting this looks fairly suspicious to us.
