Wendy Williams has been off the air for quite a while. The talk show host went dark with her “Hot Topics” and the show has been airing repeats since June. However, things are looking bright as Williams just confirmed when she will be back in her purple chair. Not only will new episodes begin to air but the talk show host plans on going back into her lavish studio.

Why did Wendy Williams go off the air?

When the whole pandemic hit, most shows with a live studio audience went dark as they figured things out. After a while, many shows returned to the airwaves looking a little different. In the case of Williams, she started dishing on the latest gossip right from her kitchen with Wendy@Home. However, in June the talk show host put the show on pause because she missed being in-studio.

“I’m waiting for the state of New York to say that we as a show can go back,” Williams said in a video posted across her social media platforms. “I want to go back to do our show. Nothing makes me happier than being Wendy on The Wendy Show, you know what I mean? What I want the most is to be with you. I miss you. I miss you a lot.”

“I love you more, thank you,” she ended her video.

Wendy Williams is back

After more than a month off, Williams finally revealed when she planned to return to produce her show again. When The Wendy Williams Show returns, it will be in its twelfth season.

“The 12th season of WENDY starts SEPTEMBER 21,” Williams announced on her Instagram. “I can’t wait to get back to all of YOU and to my AMAZING staff and crew!!! I’m sooo excited to bring you silly, funny, glamour and hopefully brighten your day during these crazy times that we’re all living in…even if for just an hour. I miss you and can’t wait to get back in my purple chair and show you what we did to the set.”

Williams plans to do her show from her set and it is not known if she will have a live studio audience. New York has controlled the spread of the coronavirus but it’s still a cause of concern for many.

Wendy Williams takes time off

It was around mid-May that Williams signed-off her show due to health reasons. A statement on her Instagram page noted that she continues to battle with Graves’ disease which caused her to be fatigued.

“Recently, Wendy has been dealing with symptoms from her Graves’ disease which is causing fatigue,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

“In consultation with her doctor and as a precautionary measure, she will be taking some time off as she continues to receive treatment. We look forward to welcoming Wendy back soon and continuing the Wendy@Home shows. More updates on a return date will follow.”

Williams has been open about her health struggles with all of her “co-hosts.” As the talk show host took time off her show aired reruns. After talking time off to rest, Williams seems to feel in great condition to resume her hosting activities when the show returns in September. Will you be watching?
