Bob Saget was born in Philadelphia in 1956. As a child, Saget did not find himself particularly drawn to a life in show business and intended to pursue a career as a doctor, but his teachers convinced him of his creative potential and urged him to explore the arts.

He went on to attend film school and was widely recognized while in school for his skill in filmmaking. Saget graduated in 1978 and spent a few years working at CBS.

Following his time at CBS, Saget was cast in the television series Full House. He was a hit almost immediately and went on to appear on the show until 1995. In 1989, Saget landed the other role that would make him incredibly popular, the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos.

The show was a hugely successful program with families and Saget’s natural skill at comedy made him the perfect host. He continued to host the show until 1997, at which point he moved on to other projects.

Although Bob Saget was first known to audiences as a very funny actor, over the years, he has developed a thriving career in stand-up comedy. For years, Saget lent his voice to the TV series How I Met Your Mother, acting as the show’s narrator. Saget has also contributed a great deal of his time and money to various charitable efforts, including research on behalf of scleroderma victims.

He became inspired due to his sister’s misdiagnosis and eventual death from the disease.
