Many people might know the artist Sia for powerhouse ballads like “Chandelier” or for her habit of wearing wigs that obscure a good portion of her face.

But there is a whole other side to Sia that even some of her biggest fans might not even know. In fact, Sia has been in the music industry for decades and has worked in almost every facet of the business, sharpening her skills in order to become the powerhouse that she is today.

How did Sia get started in music?

Sia was born in 1975 in Australia. As a child, Sia was surrounded by music and was inspired by the influence of her father, a musician in his own right.

She knew from an early age that she wanted to pursue music as her path in life, and in her mid-20s, Sia joined a local acid jazz band known as Crisp. Sia’s vocals took Crisp to the next level and she collaborated with them on several albums before the group disbanded in 1997.

Not ready to give up on music, Sia moved to London and started working with several other bands, including the English funk band Jamiroquai and another group called Zero 7.

Eventually, after a series of semi-successful collaborations with these bands, Sia decided to break free and become a solo artist. Working as a solo artist in the UK didn’t go over well for Sia at first and her career began to flounder. For a change of scenery (and possibly a big break) Sia moved to New York City in 2005.

Sia’s red-hot solo career

From 2006 until 2010, Sia cranked out music in the United States, gaining recognition as an artist to watch. She also received acclaim for her songwriting abilities and was approached by Christina Aguilera to write songs for her.

Aguilera’s album, “Bionic,” features several songs by Sia and the two have continued to work together over the years. Her work with Aguilera led her to write songs for many other popular artists, including Alicia Keys, Beyonce, David Guetta, and even Rihanna.

In 2014, Sia received mainstream recognition for her song “Chandelier.” She followed up that hit single with hugely popular songs like “Elastic Heart” and “Big Girls Cry,” further catapulting her to the top of the charts.

She also decided to change up her image during her onstage performances, hiding her face behind large, blonde wigs and deliberately choosing outfits that offered modesty and comfort. Due to her habit of often covering her face, many of Sia’s fans don’t even know what she looks like and likely couldn’t pick her out of a lineup.

What is Sia’s net worth?

In the years since her first big break, Sia has continued to write, tour, and record consistently – but always on her own terms. Sia has slowly become more comfortable with the celebrity lifestyle and has even performed on some occasions with her face in full view.

The artist has also explored releasing seasonal tracks, including Christmas music, and some soundtrack songs, proving that she is versatile as well as hugely talented.

Sia’s work in the music business has paid off, big time. Her reported net worth is around $25 million, an impressive figure for someone who has experienced so many career highs and lows – although, in the past few years, Sia has definitely enjoyed a lot more highs than lows.

Her net worth will almost certainly increase as the years go on if she continues on her current career trajectory.
