‘When Calls the Heart’ Fans Are Getting Tired of the Nathan-Lucas-Elizabeth Love Triangle
Enough is enough. Hearties are ready for Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) to make a choice between Nathan (Kevin McGarry) and Lucas (Chris McNally) on When Calls the Heart.
The love triangle has been a significant ongoing story in season 7 of the Hallmark Channel drama, but with the season finale set to air on April 26, many viewers are hoping the widowed schoolteacher will finally indicate which man she really prefers.
Viewers are fiercely divided between Team Nathan and Team Lucas
The Nathan-Lucas rivalry has fiercely divided Hearties over the past season. Some are firmly in Mountie Nathan’s camp, hoping to see Elizabeth end up with the strong-but-silent lawman. But others are wary of seeing her give her heart to another man in a red jacket after her first husband Jack tragically died in the line of duty. They think saloon owner Lucas is the perfect guy, especially given the way he’s encouraged her dreams of being a writer.
The #TeamNathan and #TeamLucas debates have gotten so heated that the show’s official social media accounts and producer have had to step in to remind people to be civil.
“All #Hearties from both teams need to take a deep breath, a step back, stop pushing each other’s buttons, agree to disagree without being disagreeable and enjoy the show,” executive producer Brian Bird tweeted April 6. “There is no trolling allowed in Hope Valley or you’ll get a time out.”
Some ‘When Calls the Heart’ fans are over the drama
With the When Calls the Heart season finale fast approaching, many viewers are continuing to make their case for either Lucas or Nathan. But a few are simply begging the show to wrap up this particular storyline.
“At this point I just want her to pick one of them or walk away from both and move on,” commented one fan on Instagram.
Another viewer agreed, arguing that, “Leading them both on does not suit Elizabeth and it’s getting old.”
“#wish Elizabeth would make up her mind … we all know she will end up with Nathan,” tweeted a fan. “Please there are more good stories for When Calls the Heart rather the twist and turns for Elizabeth’s love life.”
The show’s producer hints we may not get a resolution in the finale
Unfortunately, fans who are hoping that either Team Nathan or Team Lucas will emerge victorious at the end of season 7 might be disappointed. In a couple of recent tweets, Bird hinted that Elizabeth might not be ready to make a decision.
“Are there any sports that end in a draw?” he asked when he retweeted a blog post about which man would win Elizabeth’s heart.
And after a fan indicated she’d be in tears if the love triangle was left unresolved, he wrote: “Better get your @Kleenex ready then.” Sounds ominous.
The When Calls the Heart Season 7 finale airs Sunday, April 26 at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel.
