When Will BTS’ Permission to Dance Challenge Compilation Video Premiere?

From July 23 to Aug. 14, BTS put on the Permission to Dance Challenge with YouTube Shorts. ARMY took part in the challenge and submitted videos incorporating the song's choreography. A compilation video featuring a handful of submissions will be released on Sept. 10.

After releasing their third English-language single “Permission to Dance” on July 9, BTS partnered with YouTube Shorts to launch the Permission to Dance Challenge. The challenge lasted from July 23 to Aug. 14, and once it was completed a handful of videos were selected to be featured in a compilation video. Here is how fans can watch BTS’ Permission to Dance Challenge video when it premieres.

BTS’ compilation video for the Permission to Dance Challenge will be a music video

For the Permission to Dance Challenge, BTS fans made 15-second YouTube Shorts incorporating the choreography of “Permission to Dance.” To make the videos more visible online, fans could use the hashtags #PermissiontoDance and #Shorts.

When the challenge was completed, a select number of Shorts were chosen to be featured in a compilation video. The compilation video will be a new music video for “Permission to Dance” called “BTS ‘Permission to Dance’ MV (Shorts Challenge ver.).”

It will premiere here on YouTube at midnight EDT on Sept. 10 on the BANGTANTV YouTube channel. When the music video premieres, BTS fans will be able to see which YouTube Shorts from the challenge were selected.

BTS will be in an episode of ‘RELEASED’ on YouTube

Leading up to the release of “BTS ‘Permission to Dance’ MV (Shorts Challenge ver.),” BTS will take part in an episode of YouTube’s RELEASED. The YouTube Originals series gives artists the opportunity to discuss their music and preview new releases for fans.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin will host the episode and interview Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. During the episode, fans can expect BTS to talk about the Permission to Dance Challenge.

According to a press release, “The band will be joined by Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, for an intimate conversation on what inspired the #PermissiontoDance Challenge on YouTube Shorts and to discuss their shared experience as global musicians. The special episode will also feature a selection of Shorts from the challenge created by BTS fans around the world including the U.S., India, Russia, South Korea, the United Kingdom and more.”

The episode of RELEASED will premiere on the BANGTANTV YouTube channel at 11:45 p.m. EDT and 8:45 p.m. PDT on Sept. 9.

‘Permission to Dance’ is BTS’ third English-language single

BTS shared “Permission to Dance” with fans on July 9. The song was released as a digital single and as an additional track on a physical CD of BTS’ song “Butter.” Ed Sheeran, Steve Mac, Johnny McDaid, and Jenna Andrews wrote the song, and Mac, Stephen Kirk, and Andrews produced it.

With the single, BTS encourage listeners to unite in a positive way and spread happiness wherever possible. “Permission to Dance” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became BTS’ fifth No. 1 on the chart.
