Where Did ‘Morning Joe’ Anchors Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough Get Married?

TV shows focused on the news have become a lot more varied in recent years, with programs designed to represent a wide range of political opinions and preferences.

Morning Joe is one of the most popular morning news shows of the past 10 years, a politically-charged program that offers interviews with some of the biggest powerhouses in government as well as in-depth reporting of all the latest issues of the day. At the forefront of the show is the host Joe Scarborough, as well as his co-host, Mika Brzezinski, who also happens to be his wife.

Joe Scarborough began his career as a lawyer, practicing law in Florida. He represented many high-powered clients all throughout the eighties before turning his attention to politics in the early nineties. Scarborough became a congressman for the state of Florida, running as the Republican nominee. He enjoyed a successful political career all throughout the nineties and early 2000s before resigning in 2001.

Although Scarborough no longer wanted to be a congressman, he still felt called to remain in the world of politics. He began appearing on television as a political commentator in 2003, appearing as a regular contributor on networks like MSNBC. In 2007, Scarborough decided to take the leap and host his very own show.

Morning Joe premiered in 2007 and began initially as a fill-in for shock-jock Don Imus’s abandoned time slot. In short order, Morning Joe started getting attention from viewers and fans, and Scarborough was tapped as one of television’s most exciting political voices.

Joe Scarborough has remained at the helm of Morning Joe since the show’s inception. However, he has always been joined by several bright and talented co-hosts, including, most notably, Mika Brzezinski. Brzezinski is a journalist and author who began her career on television in the early nineties. Over the years, she has worked as a reporter for Fox News, CBS, and MSNBC. Brzezinski earned acclaim for her reporting from “Ground Zero” during the September 11 attacks.

When Morning Joe premiered in 2007, Mika Brzezinski was one of the co-hosts. Her chemistry with Scarborough was one of the show’s big draws, in addition to the political reporting, and Brzezinski quickly became one of Morning Joe‘s most valuable assets.

Scandal rocked the show in 2016, when allegations of an affair between Brzezinski (who was married to James Patrick Hoffer at the time) became public. Brzezinski ended up getting divorced from Hoffer, and she continued to pursue her relationship with Scarborough.

Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough’s relationship became the stuff of tabloid fodder in 2016. Although the two had both been married before, they seemed to bond over their shared experience in politics. Still, the two kept their romance very much under wraps and steadfastly refused to talk about their romance.

In 2018, Brzezinski and Scarborough tied the knot, according to Vanity Fair, at the National Archives, in an intimate ceremony that featured only a few close friends and family in attendance. They were surrounded by historic artifacts, including the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. Their choice of venue was the ideal ceremony location for the two political powerhouses. As Brzezinski explained, “it makes sense now more than ever, given what we stand for as a couple, what we do for a living, and what we’re worried about as a country.”

Two years after the wedding, Brzezinski and Scarborough are still going strong, hosting their morning news show together and navigating the battleground of politics in America.
