Where Is the Cast of ‘The Nanny’ Today?

The Nanny was on the air from 1993 to 1999, and remains one of the most beloved sitcoms of its time, ranking among the likes of Friends and Seinfeld. Fran Drescher starred as Fran Fine — a cosmetic saleswoman who shows up on the doorstep of widower and Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaugnessy). She becomes a nanny to his three children, and her quick wit and warm personality bring levity back into the home. Romantic tension boils between Fine and Maxwell for many seasons…until they eventually get married. So, where is the cast of The Nanny today? What are they all up to?

1. Fran Drescher

Drescher has starred in several sitcoms since The Nanny, yet most of them were short-lived, failing to gain enough viewers to stay on the air. She starred in Living with Fran and Happily Divorced in 2006 and 2011, respectively; the latter ran until 2013, but the former only lasted two seasons. She also starred in 2020’s Indebted, which ran for one season. Drescher is currently working behind-the-scenes to turn The Nanny into a Broadway musical.

2. Charles Shaughnessy

Charles Shaughnessy — known for playing the handsome and debonair Maxwell Sheffield in The Nanny — recently played Prince Charles in the 2019 movie Harry and Meghan: Becoming Royal. He also starred in Christmas with a Prince: Becoming Royal as King Charles. Shaugnessy also had a recurring role in the sci-fi-fantasy series The Magicians (based on Lev Grossman’s novel of the same name) as Christopher Plover from 2016 to 2020. Shaugnessy is set to appear in two movies that are currently in the works — The Magic and Final Frequency.

4. Lauren Lane

Lauren Lane — who portrayed C.C. Babcock in the series — has had success on the stage following the sitcom. She works with the ZACH Theatre in Austin, Texas, and teaches at Texas State University, according to The List. She has been seen on stage in August: Osage County and The Vagina Monologues.

5 – 7. The kids: Nicholle Tom, Benjamin Salisbury, and Madeline Zima

Nichole Tom, who played Maggie in the sitcom, hasn’t had many major roles since the show, but she has appeared in a handful of well-known shows and movies. She appeared in 2014’s 3’s a Couple, Stalker, Gotham, Survivor’s Remorse, I Didn’t Kill My Sister, Saturn Returns, Rent-an-Elf, Hollywood Darlings, and more.

Benjamin Salisbury seemingly disappeared from Hollywood following The Nanny, appearing in minor roles and working on film sets here and there. However, he did appear at the 2020 reunion table read for The Nanny.

As for Madeline Zima, she’s ascending the ladder in the business. She starred in Twin Peaks and the Netflix original You. She also recently appeared in Perry Mason as Velma ‘Red’ Fuller, and she is set to star in the upcoming production, Marzipan.
