Where is ‘The White Lotus’ filmed?

Similar to Mare of Easttown, the new HBO miniseries, The White Lotus is true to it’s location. Like Kate Winslet flew to suburban Philadelphia, the cast of The White Lotus filmed in Maui, Hawaii. The six-part series, which premiered on Jun 11, 2021, took over the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. According to Maui News, director Mike White filmed for eight weeks in Wailea, Maui, from late October to mid-December 2020.

“It’s beyond exciting to return to HBO with this project and such an incredible cast,” White told Variety. “I am very grateful to everyone who has made it possible for us to bring our little bubble to Hawaii, a place I am proud to think of as a second home.”

Maui News also reported that The White Lotus team hired 200 residents as extras and 100 residents to the crew.

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

The title of the HBO miniseries, The White Lotus, was created for TV, so it is not an actual resort. However, viewers could visit the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. After comparing The White Lotus trailer to the Four Seasons website, viewers notice the crew did not bring in the vast cabanas, and chaise lounges for filming. Additionally, the resort boasts 81 cabanas, 22 oceanfront “sanctuaries,” and “one of the largest golden sand beaches on the island.”
