In 2017, the hugely popular teen drama Pretty Little Liars ended it’s seven-year run. In the months since the series finale fans have been clamoring for more of their favorite characters, and it seems as though the Freeform network heard their pleas. In early 2018, it was announced that there would be a brand-new Pretty Little Liars spinoff series set to debut in March 2019. The show would be called Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists and would feature a blend of fan-favorite and brand new characters.

What ‘Pretty Little Liars’ characters will be on the show?

Pretty Little Liars ran from 2010 – 2017, and was one of the most popular shows of its time. Featuring a blend of teen drama and high school intrigue, meshed with compelling storylines, the show captured teen audiences and adults alike. The characters were fleshed out and well-written, and the actors featured on the show received regular recognition for their outstanding work.

Two of the most popular characters on Pretty Little Liars were Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal, played by Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish. Alison DiLaurentis, played by Pieterse, was a popular student who played a central role in the entire series. While she was far from the kindest character on the show, her portrayal by Pieterse made her one of the more iconic teenagers in television over the past decade.

Mona Vanderwaal, played by Parrish, was a fan favorite from the very beginning. Initially conceived as a supporting character, she became so popular with viewers that they expanded her. Vanderwaal was an interesting combination of “it” girl and geek and knew how to hack computers and speak a wide variety of languages.

What is ‘The Perfectionists’ about?

In spite of the revelation that two favorite Pretty Little Liars characters will return for The Perfectionists, not much else is known about the plot. In order to build suspense in advance of the show’s March 2019 premiere, producers are keeping very tight-lipped about plotlines and additional characters.

The official tagline for the show, according to IMDb, reads, “Nothing in the perfectly quaint town of Beacon Heights is what it seems to be.” While this mysterious opening doesn’t reveal any details as to what happens on the show, there are some clues that can be gleaned from the official Freeform website. The website makes reference to how the stress of keeping up the perfect appearance of the town of Beacon Heights will lead to the town’s first murder. With such a dramatic build up, the show is certain to be a hit with the Pretty Little Liars fanbase.

Who are the new characters?

Sydney Park, Eli Brown, and Sofia Carson are the young actors behind the show’s brand new characters. Sydney Park, an actress best known for her work on the hit AMC show The Walking Dead, plays Caitlin Martell-Lewis, and Sofia Carson, a Disney channel star, plays Ava, a fashion blogger, and a popular high school student. Eli Brown is a newcomer to the world of acting and plays Dylan, a young musician.

Of course, one of the other big questions that surround the upcoming show is whether or not other former cast members might possibly make appearances. While nothing has been confirmed or announced by any of the other veteran cast members of Pretty Little Liars, fan speculation remains. The cast has been open about their love and support for whatever direction the show and the spinoffs might possibly take, so cameos or brief appearances by former Pretty Little Liars actors remains entirely possible. Stay tuned for more updates as they come, and mark your calendars for March 20th, 2019, for the debut of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists
