Lucy Hale has had her fair share of relationships over the years. While she’s kept a few of her romances under wraps, some of her earlier relationships were on full display for all to see — including the one she had with a Disney Channel star back in the late 2000s.

Before landing the role of Aria Montgomery in Pretty Little Liars, Hale was just like every other young talent in Hollywood, searching high and low for opportunities in the entertainment industry.

Shortly after moving to Los Angeles at the age of 15 in the hopes of getting a record deal, Hale began auditioning and received minor roles in television shows like Drake & Josh, How I Met Your Mother, The O.C., and Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.

In 2007, she appeared in the first season of Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place. Hale portrayed Miranda, a “goth” high school student who gets partnered with actor David Henrie’s character Justin Russo in Biology lab.

Though she played his love interest on the show, Hale also captured Henrie’s heart in real life, and the two began dating while working together.

The pair were in a relationship for over two years before eventually going their separate ways.

Both have since dated other people

A few years after her split from Henrie, Hale began dating Amazing Spider-Man actor Chris Zylka. The pair were together for about nine months before some cryptic tweets from Chris suggested that the two were done.

Following her romance with Zylka, the Katy Keene star was romantically involved with actor Graham Rogers for about three months before they broke up in September 2013.

Hale has also been linked to musician Anthony Kalabretta and her Life Sentence co-star Riley Smith. However, both of those relationships didn’t stand the test of time.

As for Henrie, he’s been rumored to have dated his Wizards of Waverly Place co-star Selena Gomez, but that claim eventually died out. In 2010, it was reported that he was dating actor Elle McLemore after they were spotted leaving a restaurant together in LA. However, their romance only lasted a few short months.

In January 2017, Henrie announced his engagement to former Miss Delaware 2011, Maria Cahill. Three months later, they tied the knot.

Today, the couple is still happily married and are parents of 1-year-old Pia Philomena Francesca. In June 2020, the Disney Channel alum revealed that he and his wife were expecting their second child, a baby boy due in December.

Where does their relationship stand today?

Though things didn’t work out between Hale and Henrie, the pair remained friendly with each other after their breakup, with the Wizards of Waverly Place star telling J-14 back in 2014, “We’re friends. We’re just buddies now.”

While there’s no telling where the actors’ friendship stands today, it’s clear that both have since moved on with their lives.

Although Hale has yet to settle down and start a family of her own, she’s been content practicing self-love and isn’t in a rush to get into another relationship at the moment.

“When I was younger, I was constantly wanting to be with or date someone because I was so deathly afraid of being single or by myself,” she told Cosmopolitan earlier this year. “Now, I’m at the point where if I meet someone, they better really elevate my life, because I love being single.”
