Who Is Wendy Williams’ New Beau, Mike Esterman?
Wendy Williams isn’t letting a difficult divorce stop her from finding love. Willaims recently debuted her new beau to her millions of Instagram followers and says things are looking promising in the potential new relationship. The two met during a taping of her talk show.
Wendy Williams announces dating segment and what she’s looking for in a romantic
Williams announced in January 2020 that she was kicking off a dating segment competition on her show. “Date Wendy” allowed for potential suitors to submit an online application with a 30-second video detailing their qualifications. Three men would be selected and flown to her show to vie for her affection.
After a public and painful divorce from Kevin Hunter, Williams was clear on what she was looking for in a partner. She told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m 56 now. I’m a mom, I’m not a single woman running around town with [rappers and DJs] like Eric B anymore. Those days are over…My next boyfriend, hopefully the husband he’ll turn into, I don’t want him to be in this business.”
And Williams knew exactly what type of personality would match with hers. “He’s got to appreciate my humor and have a sense of humor for the business that I’m in, and not try to stop me,” she continued. “But he’s also got to be very, very comfortable in the man that he is. And he’s got to be 45 years or older.”
Wendy Williams’ new beau Mike Esterman is a successful contractor
Out of the three men selected for “Date Wendy,” Williams chose Esterman. Esterman also happens to be a friend of Mario Lopez, with the Extra host pushing for Williams to give him a try.
“Mike & I are having fun!! I’m glad he’s a REAL gentleman,” wrote Williams on her Instagram page of a photo with her and the chosen one. Williams told viewers during her Mar. 8 episode that her and Esterman went to the CORE Club and shared a kiss.
She also shared a nod to Lopez for the hookup, noting in the Instagram post, “But @RandyJackson, @birdman & @MarioLopez have tried to block my collards, fried chicken, shrimps, yams, beans, soul roll, Mac & cheese, fish, rice, oxtail & my #carrotcake! We WILL discuss once I gather myself.”
Esterman told Access that his date with Williams was “amazing” and he looks forward to more.
The talk show host has no regrets about her public divorce
Williams and Hunter were together for 25 years and share an adult son. Their marriage fell apart amid Williams’ discovery that Hunter’s long-term mistress was pregnant with his child. Williams fired Hunter as her manager, sold their marital home, and has moved on.
In January 2020, Williams told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that she has no ill will toward her ex. “A door has closed in old life; the new chapter has been so lovely,” she said at the time. She also noted that their marriage was “25 years I don’t regret.”
Hunter, his girlfriend, and their daughter now live in Florida. Williams revealed recently that she pays Hunter alimony.
