Sometimes people are asked multiple times to appear on The Bachelorette. That might be surprising given most people would see it as an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But Dale Moss said he turned it down multiple times before finally appearing on the show.

Dale Moss and Clare Crawley got engaged on ‘The Bachelorette’

Moss and Clare Crawley had a strong connection almost immediately. The hairstylist’s time on the show ended quicker because of this and they got engaged.

“The moment I knew that you were coming like I was so excited to meet you,” Crawley told him before he proposed. “Then when you got here it was like electricity for me because I knew that I had just met my husband.”

He shared the same feelings. “From the moment I stepped out of the limo this was special,” Moss told her. “And I know you and I, we both felt it immediately and there’s absolutely no denying it.”

The couple had the advantage of knowing about each other before the season started. Crawley was announced as the star and then her season was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her cast for the season was already released to the public so she was able to check out their profiles. She admitted to looking up Moss before filming and being interested in him.

Moss had the chance to be on previous seasons of The Bachelorette. He explained why it wasn’t the right time for him.

“I was nominated, I never actually signed up. I turned it down over, and over, and over again,” Moss told the Raising The Bar podcast. “I actually finally committed to it four days before everyone was supposed to leave for the show.”

There is also a sweet reason behind him changing his mind. “And the only reason I committed to it was because Clare was announced [as the] bachelorette at that time,” he said.

The former football player revealed what it was about Crawley that made him want to meet her. He said she was “so confident and passionate about it.”

Moss isn’t alone in turning down the show. However, people who revealed they turned down the show were being considered to star on The Bachelor.

Tyler Cameron was a fan-favorite contestant. It’s not surprising that he was asked to be the bachelor.

“It was something we talked about, but where I was at in my life, I just didn’t think it was where I wanted to be,” Cameron told ET online. “My heart wasn’t in it, my dad was really sick again, and I was nervous and scared. I sat on it, thought about it, and…my heart wasn’t it.”

Peter Kraus from Rachel Lindsay’s season was asked to do it too. “I told [the producers] I had started to talk to someone and they said, ‘Are you guys in a relationship?’ I said, ‘No,’ and they said, ‘Would you be willing to leave that or exit that?'” Krause revealed on The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast. “I wasn’t sure… It was really hard for me  and I couldn’t say I would for sure get in an engagement at the end of the show.”

The timing isn’t always right for people to do the show. But it looks like everything worked out for Moss.
