Tyler was born in California in 1970. Primarily raised by her father, Tyler discovered a penchant for comedy when she was still in high school. She attended high school with fellow future stars like Sam Rockwell and Margaret Cho, and it was partially due to Rockwell’s influence that she decided to ultimately go into the entertainment business.

Still, after she completed her education, Tyler spent some years working in advertising before focusing her full attention on her budding comedy career.

In the early 2000s, Tyler landed a series of roles in TV shows like Talk Soup and The Fifth Wheel. She also worked on independent films, developing the skills that she would later use to her advantage in major TV and film projects.

Tyler landed recurring roles in shows such as The Ghost Whisperer and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, while also acting in movies such as Balls of Fury

When was Aisha Tyler cast as a host on ‘The Talk’?

In 2011, Tyler officially joined the cast of The Talk as a permanent co-host, filling the spot once occupied by actor Holly Robinson Peete. Tyler quickly became a fan-favorite, and many viewers gravitated to her open, talkative nature, as well as the way that she never shied away from expressing her opinion on social issues.

Only two years after being cast on The Talk, Tyler accepted another high-profile hosting gig, this time as the host of Whose Line Is It Anyway? She has since become an important part of the show.

In addition to all of her hosting gigs and acting projects, Tyler has lent her time to various social causes, as well as to one of her passion projects — video games and projects relating to gaming culture.

With Tyler’s schedule growing busier by the day, it’s no big surprise that eventually, the actor found herself with too much on her plate and too little time to execute. She made the difficult decision, in June 2017, to leave The Talk, a show that had been a big part of her life for many years.

Tyler’s busy schedule was cited as the reason for the exit, with the actor making a small speech on the show. “At the end of this season I’m going to be leaving the show,” Tyler stated, reports DailyMail. “I have had an amazing six years with you guys. We’ve had babies and weddings, and you know good things have happened, and you know I went through the biggest breakup of my life with you. I could not have done with this without you. I’ll never be able to thank you guys enough.”

The actor told Larry King in 2017: “I just had to decide where I want my life to go and what I had to give up to get there. And sadly, the rigors of making a daytime show day in and day out for 11 months a year, it was too much.”
