Hailey Baldwin and Shawn Mendes sparked romance rumors in 2017

Before becoming Mrs. Justin Bieber, Hailey Baldwin had somewhat of a short-lived fling with Mendes.

The pair first sparked romance rumors in December 2017 when they were spotted attending a Daniel Ceasar concert in Toronto. Though it had previously been reported that the two were “seriously dating,” the “Stitches” crooner debunked those rumors in November 2017, saying he wasn’t currently dating anyone.

While Mendes and Baldwin maintained that they were just friends, the pair fueled romance rumors once again when the singer posted an Instagram photo of himself and the model in April 2018.

A month later, the pair attended the Met Gala together and looked pretty comfortable holding each other close as they posed for pictures on the pink carpet.

Though many took their Met Gala appearance as confirmation they were a couple, it became clear that they actually were “just friends” once the model began dating Bieber.

Justin Bieber proposed to Hailey Bieber in July 2018

Just two months after their Met Gala date, Baldwin became engaged to Justin Bieber, whom she was dating on-and-off for years before her fling with Mendes.

Sources revealed that the “Baby” crooner popped the question while he and the supermodel were vacationing in the Bahamas. A few days later, Bieber confirmed their engagement on Instagram, calling Baldwin “the love of his life” in an emotional post.

Four months later, Mendes opened up about his and Baldwin’s relationship during an interview with Rolling Stone. While he confirmed he was more than just friends with the supermodel, the singer said their connection couldn’t be defined, even though it was more romantic than the two initially let on.

“I don’t even wanna put a title on it,” he explained. “I think it was more of a zone of limbo.”

As for Baldwin moving on with Bieber, Mendes admitted he couldn’t be happier for the couple and only had positive things to say about the model.

“I texted Hailey, ‘Congratulations,’ and I really am happy for them,” he said. “She’s still one of the f*cking coolest people ever, she’s not just a beautiful person visually, but she’s one of the most beautiful hearts I’ve ever met.”

Justin and Hailey Bieber tied the knot in lavish South Carolina wedding

A little more than a year after exchanging vows inside a New York City courthouse in September 2018, Bieber and Baldwin tied the knot a second time in front of close friends and family at the Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina.

The pair even gave fans an inside look into their lavish, star-studded wedding during an episode of the singer’s YouTube docuseries, Seasons, sharing a variety of sweet moments from their special day.

Today, the Biebers are still happily married and are continuing to give fans sneak peeks into their loving relationship on Instagram, TikTok, even in their new Facebook Watch series, The Biebers on Watch.

As for Mendes, he’s currently in a relationship with singer Camila Cabello. Though they started out as close friends, Mendes and Cabello’s relationship has now blossomed into a full-on romance, which is still going strong to this day.
