Joe Biden was sworn into office as the 46th President of the United States on Jan. 20, 2021. One of the first things he did as President, aside from sign the 100-day mask mandate and the Paris Climate Deal, was follow Chrissy Teigen on Twitter.

Chrissy Teigen rallied for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris during their campaign

Like many other celebrities, Teigen made it clear she wasn’t a fan of former President Donald Trump. It wasn’t shocking when much of Hollywood, including Teigen, was outspoken about Trump and his policies during his run for reelection.

In addition to her support online, Teigen and her husband, John Legend, rallied in Pennsylvania in November 2020. She was excited and honored to support Biden and Harris in “the city of Brotherly Love” on election night. Legend also performed during Biden’s television special Celebrating America on the night of the inauguration.

Former President Donald Trump blocked Chrissy Teigen on Twitter

Teigen was extremely outspoken about Trump throughout his presidency. It came as no surprise to the Lip Sync Battle commentator when Trump blocked her on Twitter.

“After 9 years of hating Donald J Trump, telling him ‘lol no one likes you’ was the straw,” Teigen tweeted. She included a screenshot confirming @realDonaldTrump had blocked her. Trump later tweeted about her and Legend, calling him a “boring musician” and her his “filthy-mouthed wife,” for supporting the criminal justice reform he signed into law.

“Donald, for some reason, thought that John was taking all the credit for [prison reform] — and me,” Teigen explained to Ellen DeGeneres. “I didn’t even know he was filming this thing. Honestly, I didn’t even know anything about it.”

But now, nearly four years later, Teigen has redeemed her good standing online with the new President.

Joe Biden’s official POTUS account follows Chrissy Teigen on Twitter

As of Thursday, Jan. 21, the @POTUS Twitter is following 12 accounts. Eleven of those are government officials, including Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, Press Secretary Jen Psaki, and Deputy Chief of Staff Jen O’Malley Dillon.

Then there’s Teigen. The 35-year-old mother of two is the only celebrity followed by the current President of the United States.

Why doesn’t President Joe Biden follow any other celebrities on Twitter?

Many people wonder why Teigen is the only celebrity the President is following at this time, especially considering how many stars performed at his inauguration. Why doesn’t Biden follow Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Garth Brooks, or even Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman on social media?

Probably because they didn’t ask him to. During Biden’s inauguration ceremony, Teigen straight up asked him for the follow.

“Hello @joebiden I have been blocked by the president for four years can I get a follow plz,” she inquired. With more than 629,000 likes, how could Biden say no?

President Biden may give more celebrities follows in the future, but for now, Teigen holds the title of “Only Celebrity Followed by the President of the United States on Twitter.” She’s honored to be followed by Biden.
